Looking as blue as the Mediterranean this is Southport marine lake on a sunny Sunday. It's a short walk from the town centre and easily seen from the pier or King's Gardens.

There are lots of things to see and do at the Marine Lake even in winter. The gardens are lovely to walk round. Our grandvhildren love to go and sit in the cafe by the pier and listen to the artists singing.

It's winter so maybe that explains the feel but this place let me feeling cold. So much potential but I think it's been left to run down. Lots of birds on the lake which was a bonus.

Southport is a really nice place with its own functioning pier complete with miniature railway, this only runs during the summer season. There are lots of amenities and facilities in this traditional seaside town which has miles of sea front and sand dunes, I found...More
