Neighbourhood: Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.

Stopped by here out of the tube stop at Embankment. Extremely diverse collections of coins ancient and new. Stamps, books, postcards, militaria—spent over an hour happily browsing. Met the owner, Bridget, and had a lovely talk. There has been a market in that area since 16th century. Free coffee and delightful people. Will come again!

The Charing Cross Collectors Market seems to be located in a car park close to Embankment station. I suspect that it'll be a lot of fun for specific kinds of people such as collectors of stamps, coins, paper money, postcards, military memorabilia. There's even a stall selling letters written by random people (aren't those things private!?). There's not much to see for the average person though.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our market. We are indeed a specialist market but we also pride ourselves in being somewhere that one can find the odd curiosity and interesting artefact from the past. As an ‘average’ non collector myself though, I am often surprised by the hidden gems that casual visitors do come across. Carefully embroidered 'silks' from the Great War era can be had for just a couple of pounds and only last week someone bought a delightful hand painted bowl for a fiver. Old letters are categorised as ephemera and are perfectly legitimate sale items providing they were lawfully obtained, which, I can assure you, is the case at our market.

Nice to find a traditional collectors market in the middle of Westminster. Lots of interesting and rare items- something for everyone and a fun way to spend an hour or two on a Saturday- normally up and running from 0800 hours till around 1400 hours
