Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An absolutely brilliant tour that I would thoroughly recommend do anyone who has any interest at all in Scottish history. In fact, if you are visiting Scotland and never even thought about Scottish history, this is a great place to start. A fantastic, knowledgeable and friendly host.

I found Steve to be a fascinating font of knowledge and passion. I am writing about about British monuments to war and as an oral historian am keen that every memorial should have a contemporary voice. There is no better voice that Steve, whose engagement with the area and the stories and love of Scotland are unsurpassable. He brings the narrative into the present day, connecting then and now with local anecdotes and personalities, and he is a brilliant reminder that history really matters, it is key to our identity and ideas about ourselves and the countries we live in. Steve and I had much friendly banter about Scotland and England and Robert as a 'fair' king. All in all it was a fantastic day.

Thank you for your kind review Tessa. It was a pleasure to welcome you on your first visit Stirling and Bannockburn and take in a few other statues and sites linked to our Medieval Superheroes. By 'fair' you of course mean kind and just :) Sharing Scotland's story in a warm and welcoming manner is key to helping visitors learn our history and enjoy their journey. We look forward to reading your book in the new year. Thanks again, and safe passage as you make your way to more monuments around the country. Kind Regards, Steven, Kim and Oatly.

It was a great time spent on the heights over the Bannockburn, with Steven who was such an enthusiastic guide who loves this area which he roamed with his dear departed Molly, and who loves people. A great tour with Steve, as he showed and narrated the story in its physical location: great story of an incident that happened to Robert Bruce at the beginning of the battle when he took down the leader of the English who was charging him with a lance, while Bruce rode with a battle axe... to know how he defeated him, you will have to book up.

While it was just me, Steven nontheless accompanied me for a great time at the Old Stirling Bridge. Not only did he bring a lot of history, but fun anecdotes and stories from his own life that were great to hear. It is clear Steven cares not just for the history of his country but sharing it with others as a living thing. Very happy and thankful for this tour.

AMAZING! I did this tour and the Battle of Bannockburn! Both were amazing and was about 3 hours total for both combined! You will learn so much about each Battle in the tours!

I would definitely say if you do both, do this tour first then the battle of bannockburn as the battle of stirling came first and some of the people he mentions in the stirling battle tour are again mentioned in the Bannockburn tour!

Hi Mary, thank you so much for your kind review. It was great to welcome you to Stirling Bridge (and Bannockburn). I am glad you enjoyed the tours. I love both and switch between which one is my favourite due to the additional characters and stories outside of the norm. Look forward to welcoming back to Stirling later in the year. Kind Regards. Steven and Oatly

This was an amazing experience! He was very nice, friendly, and welcoming! Out of all the tours I’ve done in Scotland this was definitely more informative and I actually learned alot about some of the History of Scotland. I definitely think this is a MUST DO if you are in Stirling. Even just passing through as it isn’t a super long tour!

This was an incredible tour. As a battlefield enthusiast, I can’t recommend this tour more. Steven was not only super personable (he even brought me a coffee in the morning) but took me both on and off the beaten path for the battles of Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn. I had done a bunch of research on both battles before yet walking the ground w/ Steven as guide absolutely brought these historical events to life and I realized how little I really understood until I was being guided through it. If you love history and want a real sense of these two battles this is a must!

David, thank you for your kind words. It was great to welcome you to Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn and glad that we found a time slot that suited both of us. Your enthusiasm, summaries and suggestions were great and made the tour a learning experience for me as well - thank you. You definitely gave me things to think about :) Spoiler alert ... I don't normally turn up with coffee for folks. Though, it is an option that can now be requested on our Stirling Bridge Tour. I hope you enjoyed the Smith. Museum and that you enjoy the Kingdom of Fife and Inverness/Culloden. Safe Passage onwards and hope some of todays experience makes it into class lessons in the future. All the best, Steven, Kim and Oatly ♡

Thank you so much for your kind review. I am glad that you and John enjoyed it. It was a different tour from the norm. The chat at the end was great and I will be watching the Denmark Movie soon. Hettie was a wee star. Such a sweet dog <3 Oatly was so chuffed to meet her. Thanks again and see you soon. Cheers Stevie, Kim and Oatly.

This tour was one of the best we’d ever been on. We learned so much history from Steven. He went over and above what we expected from the tour. We also loved meeting Molly at the end! “Team Canada” highly recommends this tour!
