Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

This is one of the most important and strategic castles in Scotland. As could be expected, you will learn how it was protected, how they cooked food, how official affairs were conducted and how the monarchs lived. For me, the highlight is the restoration of the tapestry work in the Queen's apartment. The unicorn has special meaning and the series... More

I visited here with my family, and we had a really good time however it is expensive for what it is, for adults is about £14.50 and there's no student price ether which odd since Stirling is home to a university. When your in the castle there's lots of parts to explore and with your ticket it allows you to... More

I don't like writing bad reviews so when ever I have a bad experience I always write to the establishment and ask for an explanation as to my experience as I did in this case. As Members of Historic Scotland we got an invitation to Christmas Lunch at Stirling Castle in 'The Magnificent & Elegant' [HES description in the advert]... More

First visit here, Was easy to park the car at the entrance but imagine once it is Spring or Summer that could be very different due to increase of tourists. Castle cafe was freezing cold which was a total pain on a damp winters day and very expensive too. Could not get out quick enough and sadly lady behind counter... More

Castle certainly grandiose. Scotland's Middle Ages history is an exciting and grand. You can see then Middle Ages everyday life (the kitchen where the cook) If you have viewed Stirling Castle, then to other castles can also did not go. You can walk through the castle area. The castle stands on a hill and the surrounding area is a very... More

The views from the castle walls are worth a visit alone. Very knowledgeable tour guides and interesting displays make the castle a must visit location for any visitor to Scotland. The contrasting architectural styles highlight the change in role of a castle from fortress to palace. Friendly and welcoming staff are more than happy to answer any questions and bring... More
