Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

Beautiful, well kept, with loads of good information from the staff who are friendly and approachable. Liked that some were wearing period costumes. We spent about 4 hours there, hubby is a history enthusiast and can easily spend more hours there he says. There was a nice cafe offering soups, sandwiches and loads of variety of cakes.

Spent a great few hours at Stirling Castle today - all kinds of great, informative History to get your teeth into - from Scottish monarchy to regimental history taking in the Battle of Stirling Bridge to WWI&II - kids and adults alike totally informed and entertained with a random selection of in period characters and well-informed staff. I'd say only... More

Expensive car park so try to find a meter in Castle Wynd. We enjoyed the guided tour and the splendid views. Inside it is mostly reproductions as the Castle was an army base until recently, but don't let this put you off. Historic Scotland (the Scottish equivalent of English Heritage) have done a wonderful job of bringing the castle back... More

Stirling Castle is by far the best restored castle to visit in Scotland. Plenty to see answer not too many closed off areas. So much fun to explore this beautiful building whether you're and adult or a kid. Staff here are very friendly too and very helpful. Everytime you visit you notice something new that you missed before. Great day... More

Looking back, Stirling Castle was not only the most beautiful restored castle we've seen in GB, it also had the best staff on the sight! You can get to Stirling-Castle by Bus or via a quick walk (20-30 Minutes for youngsters) from the station. The Castle itself has free guided tours with charming guides, many. many rooms and a nice... After an initial walk around the grounds, we joined a guide for the tour of the castle which is included in the ticket price. Lots of information of the history peppered with humourous stories. The castle has been through lots of transformations over the years but it is coming back to life with all the restorations which have been done

We visited on the St Andrew's weekend when entry was free. It had been a few years since our last visit and we noticed several improvements. Great day out to learn some of Scotland's history.

A 'must-see' when in Stirling, the castle has something for everyone, including an interactive kids educational display. Perched up high, there are excellent views across the surrounding countryside. Highlights include the Royal Palace, Great Hall, Stirling Heads Gallery and the Regimental Museum of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.
