Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

Arrived on a sunny winters day. The views from the castle offer a 360 degree panorama across the Forth valley and beyond to the snow capped peaks of the Southern Highlands. The castle itself is an interesting place and we joined a guided tour to...More

There's so much to see and do here - lots of hands on exhibits which keeps youngsters entertained and interested as well as enough to satisfy the history/military buffs. Commentaries in other languages were available which suited our friends from Belgium but, best of all,...More

In my opinion better than Edinburgh. Great restoration job in the great hall and palace. Loads to see and takes time to see it all. Great views from the ramparts.

Apparently there is regular bus service from Stirling city centre to the castle that runs every 15 minutes but you can also take a taxi outside the station.

We are coming on a tour with Discover Scotland tours. The entrance to the castle is not included. Should we buy tickets ahead of time or will there much of a line?
