    Disappointing!
The Christmas experience was nothing like it describes on the website- we arrived at 11, very little was open, and all the experiences were later in the day. Not to mention all the animals looked miserable or were hiding/sleeping (quite rightly so!). The park would be better staying shut at this time of year or not having daytime visitors as the overall experience was beyond disappointing. On top of that - to be charged a premium rate because it is close to Christmas. Ridiculous.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your visit was disappointing. Our animals always have a choice to be indoors or outdoors. At this time of year, some of them prefer to stay inside. We have several animal viewing platforms and most of the animals can be seen in their indoor enclosures. In regards to admission tickets, our visitors have a choice to select day time tickets at regular price or discounted afternoon tickets. There is no premium charge for tickets. We appreciate your comments and always welcome feedback.

We come yearly and visited for my sons birthday today as we do every year, we were very disappointed, the lady at the entrance forgot to give us the Teddy you can purchase along side the tickets. Then we were told that they no longer run the boat trips to to the monkey island, so we then walked (a long walk btw) for us to get there and the keeper told us that he's put them all inside to feed and forgot to put a sign up at the start of the long walk. With a 2 year old this was clearly very inconvenient. The rides are £2.50 for 1 token, and they lasted one minute. Just a total rip off now, the also stopped doing the indoor sea lion shows. There's also only one elephant which is quite sad considering they are heard animals, aswell as 1 tiger (that we could see). We usually really enjoy our trip here but today we were totally let down and definitely won't be back in a hurry. Next year's birthday will be a different destination.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are sorry that your visit was disappointing. The boats around chimp island haven't been running since 2019. We are looking into alternatives but for now our visitors can see our chimps from a viewing point. I'm sorry that by the time you got to the viewing platform, the chimps were in their house. Our amusement rides are optional attraction and our visitors are welcome to use other free of charge entertaining areas. Mondy our elephant, is content with a good quality of life, and there is no indication that she is lonely. We have two tigers, Vitali and Hope. Tigers are solitary animals and therefore it is not unusual to see them by themselves. We appreciate your comments and always welcome feedback.

    Disappointing
Visited after not being for a few years. To be honest we were really disappointed. It seems now there is more emphasis on the “Adventure Park” side of the business rather than the animals. It’s now a big adventure park with a few animals scattered around the outside. It’s obviously great if you have little ones with all the parks and rides but my teen and I were in and out within 2 and a half hours and that included stopping for lunch and sitting soaking up the sun a few times as it was a hot day. Sadly our days visiting the park are now behind us.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are sorry that your visit was disappointing. We appreciate that Amusement attractions are not for everyone and we respect your feedback. However, our visitors have plenty of other areas and animals enclosures to see. We have over 300 animals in the park and on hot days they may wish to seek shelter. Our animals are always given a choice to be indoors or outdoors. Thank you again for your comments, we always welcome feedback.

    Full past capacity
Myself and my partner came for our visit today, we bought tickets for 12pm and we were so excited. Unfortunately our experience has left us far from impressed, the park was absolutely swarming with school children. So so so many school were there at one time, we were getting barged out of the way, couldn’t watch any of the keeper talks because there was no room due to being capacitated with 100000 of young school kids. Myself and 2 other members of the public were waiting 30 minutes to use the toilets because of school kids crowding in them and jumping in-front of us. We spoke with so many other guest’s about the ridiculousness of how many schools were allowed to attend at one time, it is completely unacceptable and unbelievable unfair on other paying members of the public. We drove from Fife and left sorely disappointed and frustrated. £36 for a lacklustre experience that I don’t think reflects the park to its best potential.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are sorry that your visit was disappointing and your expectations were not met. The Safari Park was busy with school children on the day of your visit however we were still operating at approximately half capacity. Additionally, all schools typically leave the park anytime between 2pm - 3pm. Quite a few of them would have left earlier at around 1.30pm, depending where they were travelling from. We have never had 100,000 visitors in the park on a day, let alone school children. We have three toilet blocks, toilets in the restaurant and portaloos. We are sorry if you were not aware of this. The main toilets blocks are displayed on the map. The Safari Park is open to all visitors, not only general public. This is fair and reflects how popular the park is with various audiences. Educational talks are available for everyone and our team have a speaker and microphone so that everyone can hear the talks. Educational activities play a very important part of our strategy and educating the next generation is a vital part of our mission. We can only apologise for your disappointing visit but we are confident that by 3pm the park was much quieter. This would have allowed for another 2.5 hours of your visit that wouldn't be affected by school children. We appreciate your comments and always welcome feedback.

    A bit disappointed
Really enjoyed the bird of prey display, the keepers were very informative and got the birds to fly among the audience. The sealion show was good too. Otherwise we were disappointed. Playpark was enjoyed by the kids but the theme rides were rather expensive. Not as many animals(other than the monkeys) as expected on the drive through. Worst experience was at the pizza stall where we saw flies crawling over the pizza toppings and when we told the staff they just ignored us.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are glad that you enjoyed the bird of prey display and the sea lion presentation. We are sorry that you were disappointed with the prices for our amusement rides. These are additional activities and our visitors are welcome to make most of our other attractions that are available free of charge. We are sorry that your expectations were not met but our animals in the drive-thru section are free to choose to be outside or in their houses. We appreciate your comments in regards to pizza stall. Please rest assured that we have taken appropriate measures to reinstate food safety in open areas. Thank you again for your feedback.

    Not much to see
I visited with my kids and mum, after paying so much to enter the park we were disappointed that there was not a good selection of animals to see, the farm had less animals than we could see at home, any time we went to view other animals like sea lions, elephants etc there was none to be seen. Also having to pay extra for tokens for the rides seemed unfair as they were not the best, mostly for younger kids. The reserve to drive around was also disappointing as there was only female lions and we expected to see more animals so the kids were a bit upset that it wasn’t very exciting. A long way to go for not much to see.
Thank you for taking the time to write tour review. We are sorry that your visit was disappointing. We have over 300 animals in the park so we are sorry that you didn't see many of them. Our Amusement rides are optional activities and our visitors are welcome to enjoy many free of charge attractions. We appreciate your comments and always welcome feedback.

    Not great
Been a few times now but wouldn't go back after this time. No flying fox. No boat trip to the chimps. No sealion show just really poor. There is one ride for older kids rest are for very small kids. Not much animals to see. The play park is still good but just not much for older kids so with all the things not there anymore was a very expensive day out for 2hrs
Thank you for your review. Our boat trips and flying fox have not been operational since 2019, we are sorry if you did not know this prior to your visit. However, our chimps can still be seen from the viewing platform located across from Chimp Island. Our sea lion demonstrations take place twice daily in our outdoor pool. They are currently being held outside as we have recently had two sea lion pups born and our male sea lion is in his breeding season. We have over 300 animals who live with us here in the park. The average dwell time of our guests for this period is currently sitting at 5.1 hours. We appreciate your comments and value all feedback.

    Sunny family day out.
We live 1 hour away from blair drummond and every time we come it's getting more disappointing. I understand the sea lions show being closed but the area where the zip line and boat to chimp island used to be the area could be modernised and a opertunllll its a shame that this area isn't better used as its location is in such a location that its where everyone stops and takes a break. Bbq was a hit though.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate that you have been a regular customer and are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent visits. Our boat trips and flying fox have not been operational since 2020. Our flying fox had simply come to the end of its lifespan and the platform was removed. Similarly, after two years on land, our boats were no longer fit for sailing. As you have noted, our sea lion demonstration is currently not taking place inside. This is due to our two new sea lion pups being born and our male sea lion being in his breeding season. From June to September, our sea lions prefer to be in their outdoor pool. We believe in giving our animals plenty of choices in their day-to-day lives, and we will always respect their decisions in this regard. It's great to know that you enjoyed our BBQs. We appreciate your comments and value all feedback.

    Disabled child, wheelchair user.
Family with teen disabled child. Changing-places-toilets facilities were great. Clean and fresh and one at both sides of the park, so changing wasn't an issue. Well done Blair Drummond! Every attraction could learn something from you in this respect! All platforms and paths accessible, so again, well done! Unfortunately.....every viewing area that was accessible by wheelchair is the wrong height! The top frames of every glass platform are just at eye level and too thick for a wheelchair user to see over or under. My daughter was able to see much at all. Even at the lovely elephant enclosure, the ant pipe runs right along at eye level for most wheelchair users, so the views are compromised! The play area is fantastic for able bodied children, but there is nothing for children who have limited mobility. There is ample space for a wheelchair swing and roundabouts, and there are more than enough wheelchair users visiting to justify one! Carer goes free, which is great. Special mention to the lovely lady on the ticket kiosk who sorted out our ticket - we had booked them for the wrong day, but travelled a long distance to come. We were very grateful. Loads of picnic areas but as far as I could see, not many wheelchair accessible picnic tables. Animals (and dinosaurs) all looked happy and healthy and we loved our visit.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are glad that your overall visit at the Safari Park was enjoyable. It's great to know that you found our changing places facilities great. We also appreciate your comments in regard to general accessibility in the park. Every year we make adjustments for our visitors with various disabilities. We are currently in the process of sourcing play equipment for children with mobility issues as we recognise that there is demand. You have a valid point regarding viewing areas and possible viewing restriction for visitors in wheelchairs. We take this into consideration when building new viewing areas, such as Meerkat Mansion and California Sea lion Cove. There is also a full length viewing window on the giraffe platform. There are several wheelchair accessible benches in the park but it sounds like you had difficulty finding one. We are sorry about that. We pride ourselves in being proactive when it comes to accessibility and inclusivity but we are aware that it is a work in progress and some adjustments take more time to implement. Thank you again for your constructive feedback. We hope to see you again soon.

Act of Bullying put me off
Visited here today unexpectedly after driving by it. A friend and I are currently visiting Glasgow from Ireland and came across the safari park while visiting Stirling Castle. We decided to do the drive through safaris first and then do the rest on foot. The rest of the visit went really well and we were very impressed with the setup. However! We were very dismayed after entering the Lion drive through where a ranger seemed to feel the need to keep driving his pick up truck directly at all the lionesses in turn for absolutely no reason. They weren’t in anybody’s way, they weren’t bothering anyone. Most of them laying down trying to bask in the sun, as is practise in the wild when not hunting. I have visited both South Africa and Masai Mara due to my love of wildlife , witnessing their natural behaviours and for the love of god, I cannot come up with a good reason as to why he felt the need to bully these creatures with his pick up truck. The Lions were in view to everyone and regardless if they weren’t , it wasn’t necessary. If this behaviour is a regular occurrence, I couldn’t justify recommending this place to anyone.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent visit to our safari park. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, and we're pleased to hear that, for the most part, you had an enjoyable day. We understand that certain moments during your visit left you with concerns. We want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our animals are of the utmost importance to us. The actions you observed with the pick-up truck and the lions were not random; they were carried out by an experienced keeper with a specific purpose. There are predefined instances when the lions need to be encouraged to move along, and this is always done to ensure the safety of both our lions and our guests. We have reviewed the interaction in question through our CCTV footage and statements from our keepers, and we can confirm that the actions you witnessed were in line with established procedures. Our lions have been raised and trained from a young age to respond to the presence of the keeper's pick-up, and it is a routine and non-disruptive part of their daily lives. We genuinely appreciate your concern for the well-being of the animals in our care, and we hope that this explanation has addressed some of your worries. We remain committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for both our visitors and our animal residents.

Been here many times and always enjoyed it,however today was less than what I expected.poor quality food, unclean facilities and the pungent smell of cannabis coming from staff members made this a very disappointing and extremely expensive day out. I Probably won't come back.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your latest visit did not meet your expectations. It sounds like our food offer was not to your liking. We appreciate that food preferences are subjective, however the overall feedback from our visitors about the food quality is very positive. We have a very strict food quality control policy and the majority of our food is locally sourced. Our Facilities team work very hard to maintain high standard of cleanliness but we are sorry that your experience was different. Thank you for raising your concern about a member of staff. The safari park is a non-smoking attraction and we have a robust drug and alcohol policy that applies to all staff. This matter will be investigated further, and we have zero tolerance to such behaviour. We are sorry your experience was impacted by this incident. We appreciate your comments and always welcome feedback.

As an animal loving couple, we were very excited to visit the park and overall very pleased with our experience. We are always concerned about animal welfare and would never wish to contribute to a place that is involved in that. That said we were pleasantly surprised to see that most animals seemed stress free and had ample space. Our favourite part was definitely driving through the reserves and the lions are a must-see!
However, the first thing we wanted to point out was the sea lions. We are never interested in seeing animals being trained for entertainment. The pool looked minuscule. What we know from marine animal training is that it that it can be very harmful for the animals’ mental and physical health.
Secondly, we were very saddened to see the elephant, who’s life and space looked very boring. The elephant lives completely alone, inside, and obviously so far from its natural habitat.
Again, we are only pointing this out because of our continuous concern for animal welfare, as well as to notify others that this is something to consider before coming. But overall, we think BDSP would be a nice visit for those wishing to see new animals in a fun and adventurous trip.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are glad that you were pleased with your overall experience when you visited the park. It's great to know that you enjoyed our drive-thru and the lion enclosure. Welfare of our animals is paramount and we have a dedicated team of experienced keepers and vets who look after and take care of all our animals. In 2022 we opened our new sea lion habitat called "California Cove". The facility has a state-of-the-art filtration system and the outdoor pool was specially designed for the sea lions. Our keepers are highly experienced in working with the species and plan training sessions specifically for veterinary examinations, health and wellbeing reasons – the demonstrations are a by-product of these trained behaviours and provide great enrichment for our sea lions. Mondy, our elephant, is content with a good quality of life and there is no indication that she is lonely. This is her retirement home and she receives the very best geriatric care. Her keepers have frequent training sessions with her for her welfare and she has free access to a 9,500 m sq of complex paddock which is designed with multiple enrichment stations to ensure she is entertained. We appreciate that some visitors may have concerns about the wellbeing of animals in captivity, members of staff are on hand to discuss such issues. Blair Drummond operates to the highest of welfare standards, stipulated by the Zoo licence and required by our membership to BIAZA and EAZA. We value your feedback and appreciate all your comments

We had a great visit today! There’s lots to do at the park, the play area and fairground are a great added feature to keep everyone entertained. The highlight was the bird of prey display. My kid loved watching the birds flying, especially the hawk, and the blonde lady presenting was really entertaining and full of knowledge. The drive through section was also brilliant to get up close to the animals. All in all a great day out !

Africa and Asian animals living in rural Scotland is not what you expect to see, but that's what you get We visited on a quiet October day so it wasn't over crowded the big kids and grandkids thought it was great, the meetkats were very popular along the sealions and tigers the monkeys were a let down as the car came through there inclosure in one piece. The food was fair, I am too old and too big for slides and climbing things the wife and the younger generation enjoyed it. They would return if we are back in the area. My favourite was Heather the highland cow ( reminded me of someone but I better say who) yes dear I am coming

Another fab day out. We love visiting a couple of times a year. So much to do and staff are always so friendly. On this occasion I ‘lost’ my 4 year old as she took off down the tiger ramp just in front of us and disappeared. I spoke to a staff member, he was amazing. On the radio immediately with her description, all whilst keeping me calm. And within about 3 minutes staff had found her. We really enjoyed the wizard show too. He was very very funny.
Can’t wait to come back.

I have visited this place with my husband and our 4 year old daughter. We loved every aspect of it…the beautiful view with the castle, the playground, the animals, the amusement park. The meerkats were super cute. Donut was delicious. We loved watching the ants working and moving around. It was so funny when a male monkey climbed onto our car and everyone started taking photos of it. We stayed more than 4 hours and were not able to see everything (okay, we might played too much😀) I felt both relaxed and adrenaline-rushed after leaving.

From penguins to lions, we loved seeing all the different animals. The enclosures looked well kept and outside areas were clean and tidy. What really impressed us were the keepers, even though it was late in the day the lion and lemur keepers took time to ask us if we were enjoying the park and chatted to us about the animals. That’s a lovely touch which my daughter particularly enjoyed.
We finished with a drive through the safari area which finished it off perfectly.
We bought tickets for a 3pm entry as you get them for £7 each rather than £21- that’s a great bit of marketing as we probably wouldn’t have gone if we had to pay £21 each.
We left happy.

Had the Giraffe experience today with my girlfriend as part of her birthday, and it was amazing! Can't fault the experience at all, shout out to Jordan for hosting it, I don't know how he managed to fill in almost the full 30 mins telling us facts and other info about the giraffes with hardly any prompts from us, it was impressive! Plus he was just generally a really nice, friendly guy who clearly loves his job and the animals. The main event was obviously hand feeding the giraffes which was very special, overall would highly recommend this particular experience for anyone considering it.

In terms of the park itself after we were finished with the experience, I feel we were unlucky with the weather as it rained all day and it maybe affected our experience! We expected it to be quiet due to this which we usually like, but it was absolutely deserted and it made it feel kind of eery and gave it a run down/abandoned kind of vibe, so maybe consider the weather when visiting which we unfortunately didn't have the option of as we had the experience booked a long time in advance. A good side to this however was that even though there was barely anyone in the park, almost everywhere was fully staffed probably even over staffed which meant you got a great customer service experience, we ate lunch in the indoor restaurant and the food was very good (albeit a bit on the pricey side but you kind of expect that in a place like this), the service was great and really quick. If you wanted to bring your own lunch there was ample places where you could have it even with the rain as there is plenty of sheltered seating areas outside. We also had great service from the woman in the gift shop as my girlfriend was looking for giraffe ears (they had a few others but not giraffe ones in the shop) and after asking she radioed the main office and asked if they had any there which they did so she charged us and told us to take the receipt to the main office on our way out and we could pick them up. I had some trouble determining which building was the main office on the way out but I was lucky enough to bump in to Jordan again, who hosted our giraffe experience earlier in the day, on his way out and he pointed me in the right direction.

I was very impressed with the animal enclosures, lots of enrichment around and most of them have a load of space which is great to see, especially in the drive through reserve. The only comment I'd make is that outwith the reserve, everything else is pretty much in the same central area surrounding the rides/shops/restaurants which makes it very easy to see everything in a short space of time, there is a lot of unused/available space outside of that so it might be nice to have everything a bit more spread out or even some new animals/enclosures eventually. The only thing we didn't see was the Chimps, it was signposted at the start of the path down to them that they might be inside because it's cold but we took a walk down anyway and unfortunately they were not visible, not surprising with the weather! But it would be nice if there was some sort of indoor viewing space or even just a window.

Overall we had a great day and I'm sure it would have been even more amazing if it had stayed dry or even if the Scottish sun made a rare appearance! It's definitely worth a visit to the park, even more so if you have kids as there's loads for them to do. I would love to come back soon and do one of the keeper for a day experiences.

I thought the number of activities available for all ages was great. My little one loved the buckets and spades in the big sandpit and the dinosaurs these were a big hit and really wonderful to include this for children. The weather stayed really dry and sunny so my kids loved spending a good chunk of time in the play areas.
We managed to go along to the presentations which were also excellent, Rory was very informative and did not talk too long, so my youngest didn't get bored. he spoke in a way that really kept the little ones engaged and hanging on every word he said, very well done!
Peter and Sheldon doing the bird show were great, very entertaining and knowledgeable. Same goes for the sea lion keeper at the 3pm sea lion show. Really good day, thank you to the whole team!

Well I hadn't been before...we would definitely come again..it was fab

You get a great mix of driving through the reserve, viewing platforms and some shows.

The animal talks are fab..a young lady was very knowledgeable about the Chimps ( sorry forgot your name)

Special shout out to a fab young man called Rory..we followed his talks on giraffes, rhinos and tigers..he was incredibly interesting and knowledgeable.
He was great with the kids too..a definite asset

Also there is plenty for kids to do..such as boat rides, slides and the wonderful dinosaur land with moving dinosaurs!

I cannot recommend Blair Drummond Safari Park highly enough
