- helzie8United Kingdom296 contributionsFabulousFrom penguins to lions, we loved seeing all the different animals. The enclosures looked well kept and outside areas were clean and tidy. What really impressed us were the keepers, even though it was late in the day the lion and lemur keepers took time to ask us if we were enjoying the park and chatted to us about the animals. That’s a lovely touch which my daughter particularly enjoyed. We finished with a drive through the safari area which finished it off perfectly. We bought tickets for a 3pm entry as you get them for £7 each rather than £21- that’s a great bit of marketing as we probably wouldn’t have gone if we had to pay £21 each. We left happy.Thank you for your 5 star review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit at the Safari Park. - car85201225 contributionsAmazing trip againAnother fab day out. We love visiting a couple of times a year. So much to do and staff are always so friendly. On this occasion I ‘lost’ my 4 year old as she took off down the tiger ramp just in front of us and disappeared. I spoke to a staff member, he was amazing. On the radio immediately with her description, all whilst keeping me calm. And within about 3 minutes staff had found her. We really enjoyed the wizard show too. He was very very funny. Can’t wait to come back.Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We're glad that you had a lovely day out at the Safari Park. - Tom RStirling, United Kingdom2 contributionsFun day out!We had a great visit today! There’s lots to do at the park, the play area and fairground are a great added feature to keep everyone entertained. The highlight was the bird of prey display. My kid loved watching the birds flying, especially the hawk, and the blonde lady presenting was really entertaining and full of knowledge. The drive through section was also brilliant to get up close to the animals. All in all a great day out !Thank you for your 5 star review. We're glad that you enjoyed your visit at the Safari Park. - OfficerSausagesGlasgow, United Kingdom80 contributionsAmazing day! What an amazing day! Went with partner and 4 year old and at £60 was a bit hesitant about the cost but it’s well worth it. There is so much to do. We arrived at 12 and didn’t even see everything! You could easily spend the entire day here. Lovely to see the animals have huge enclosures unlike Edinburgh zoo which I left feeling quite sad witnessing animals looking bored and sad and pacing back and forth. It is expensive to buy food and I would recommend bringing lots of pound coins if you have a wee one as there’s lots of little rides that require money but I couldn’t find a cash machine anywhere. We went on a day where they were fully booked and queued in the car for a good 25mins but that didn’t take away our enjoyment.Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. - Cammy13Ayrshire, United Kingdom173 contributionsAmazing place for all ages. Incredible animals and lots to do in an immaculate setting.Regular visits to the safari park as a child from when it first opened in 1970 had a huge and positive impact on me and led to a lifetime love of Blair Drummond which I was delighted to pass on to friends’ 8 year old twin girls today. Our visit exceeded every expectaion. First thing to note was the warm and extremely efficient welcome when checking in on arrival. Travelling through the park, the standards of cleanliness throughout the park stuck out a mile. All animal enclosures looked in fantastic order (apart from rain soaked areas which can’t be helped) as did their residents. All animals were healthy and alert. Parking was easy and we walked through all the viewing areas, with both children and adults blown away by the access to see the amazing animals (including the dinosaurs!) Food options were great and all food on offer was freshly made to a high standards. Gift shops were well stocked and catered for all budgets. The pocket money shop is a great idea! The kids enjoyed the play areas and rides and we all had fun on the dodgems before the highlight of the day watching the Sea Lion demonstration. These animals were beautiful and immaculately presented and trained with an amazing bond with their keepers. After the show we queued for stickers for the children. Following a couple of questions from one of the twins to the team leader (Sharia?) she spent time with us explaining about the sealions. It was really nice of her and we were very grateful for her generously giving her time. The drive through the animal reserves was great (although we weren’t brave enough to drive through the monkeys!) All in all a highly successful and enjoyable day. Can’t wait to go back and will definitely book an animal experience in advance next time!Thank you so much for taking the time to write your lovely review. - angelasandwoodFortrose, United Kingdom22 contributionsFun and EducationalA fun but educational day out. We had a Giraffe Experience which was a gift. Got to be hands on with the park's 4 giraffes and the 2 young women from the education team were very informative. There's regular talks on different animals throughout the day and plenty of information throughout the park. The weather wasn't great for our visit but lots of picnic tables dotted around the park which would make it a more cosy effective day out for families.Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your Giraffe Experience. It's great to know that our Education team provided some interesting facts about the giraffes. Went yesterday is one of my fave places have been more that twice a year for over fifteen years but the social distancing was a farce, allegedly they have lowered capacity which I will assume is true but due to lots being closed like lemur island, sea lion show, lots of the rides, monkey boat it meant people just gathered in higher numbers elsewhere and the painted footprints where people should stand no one was bothering to follow, the petting zoo area was rammed as was the giraffe platform, and the toilets, which weren’t even clean. The shop was the worst the moment one family of six got in there they proceeded to take the masks they had been wearing outside in the queue off! And ignore the one way system and two metre rule as did the staff. I have complained and had the standard we have ticked all the boxes response but go at your own risk. If you are bothered about trying to keep any distance between yourself and anyone else I strongly recommend you don’t go. As I say is one of my favourite places normally and any other time it’s five stars, the animals are magnificent and the new dinosaur exhibit brilliant so I would advice wait until the storm has passed until you visit unless you are not bothered about masks or social distancing like they seem to be.Leaving this here as I can’t seem to find a review bit on FB.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you were disappointed with your visit.
We are currently following government guidelines and have implemented a wide range of new measures around the Park to keep visitors and employees safe and healthy during this time. Our restrictions include a limit on the numbers of visitors allowed into the Park each day - around 1/3 of usual capacity, and we require all our customers to book their visit to the Safari Park to ensure that we can control the numbers of visitors and maintain appropriate social distancing.
There is a new one-way system in place at the Safari Park and new paths have been built to ensure that this route can be followed - the one-way route is signposted and we ask our visitors to respect these rules. We have also installed over 60 new hand sanitiser dispensers around the park and we have added self-service hygiene points in key areas, so that our visitors can spray and wipe before use. Our toilets are subject to a strict cleaning regime and are continually monitored by a member of our Cleaning Team
As per Government Guidelines, it is now necessary that all visitors wear face coverings in our shop, with the exception of children under five years old and those with certain medical conditions.
We are sorry that you were disappointed with the arrangements we have in place. We are continuing to monitor developments and navigate through these challenging circumstances, and we welcome all feedback.

Was very disappointed with the park this time around. The park apparently had limited numbers but was busier than previous visits. I was really disappointed in the amount of things that were closed due to Covid19, understandably things were going to be different but with no shows (except the falconry display), tiger and elephant viewing platforms closed, most of the children's rides, lemur and bug land, chimp Island (boat trip), a lot of the snack stalls, face painting and I'm sure many others I have forgotten, I felt paying full price and not getting the same experience was a let down. We didn't get to see half the animals as the rhino's were shut inside, giraffes chose to stay in and elephants and tigers were nowhere to be seen. I would have recommended this as a day trip before this but now I would recommend to hold off until Covid19 has passed and you can get the full experience.

Thank you for your feedback.
We are sorry that your visit was not what you had expected.
Our visitor numbers are strictly limited to less than 50% of usual capacity and we have lots of measures in place to encourage visitors to socially distance and stay safe.
Following Government Guidance, we altered some areas around the park including introduction of a one-way system, signage, ground markings, tannoy announcements and staff located at key areas, and we have built new paths and viewing areas to help our visitors keep their distance.
Our arrangements are under constant review as we navigate through these challenging circumstances and we always welcome feedback.

We appreciated the efforts being made to help prevent the spread of Covid 19.
I booked the 4-7pm slot and arrived at the park 10 mins before 4. It took us 30/40 mins just to get in and parked. So really only getting 2 1/2 hours to enjoy the park. Unfortunately our visit felt rushed and like we didn’t get to enjoy the full experience. We walked the full way round the petting zoo to discover all the animals to be inside. Just diverting us to the shed would’ve save us 10 mins walking past empty pens.
We drove through the gates of the animal reserves 5 mins before 7. The lions were being closed into their cages as we drove past.
The kids did enjoy their visit, but I don’t feel it was particularly great value for money because of the time constraints. Highlights for the kids was the play area and the dinosaurs.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your visit, but sorry to hear that it was a little rushed.
We've extended out opening hours this summer to help our visitors enjoy a more relaxed visit. We usually recommend a 3-4 hour visit, but we have included some late entry tickets for the 4-7pm slot at a reduced price to reflect the shorter time.

Very friendly staff. Safari was fun and you could drive round as many times as you wanted. Lions, rhinos and different antelope roaming but the monkeys were our favourite especially when climbing on the car! Dinosaur world was included in the price and they had full size moving models with sounds and I found this just as fun as the real zoo! Huge play area and fort for the kids and animal displays...sadly i only caught the sea lions. There were a few fairground rides for tots but these were more money so we avoided. Unfortunately the boat trip to monkey island and Lemur world (where they roam free and you walk through) were shut due to Covid regulations but we still had a very enjoyable day out

Really nice park with an excellent drive through safari, the price for the day at just £14 each was very good value for money, the food in the food court was nice and a decent selection as well. The Covid-19 measures in the food court being well thought out.
However the things that did detract a little were that maybe there were a few too many people in the park, which is great as the park obviously needs the money after the lockdown, but we both felt that there were maybe a few too many people in which made for difficult social distancing around the park.
The bigger issue though really was lack of signage and staff around the park. At Chester Zoo all toilets have signs about wearing masks, there are staff on hand around the park to ensure social distancing and there are signs asking people not to touch the glass etc. The lack of these lead to people not wearing masks in toilets and lots of glass touching.
Such a shame as a couple of little things detracted from what a good place Blair Drummond really is.

Highly recommend the Birds of Prey flying display, it was definitely the best part of my day watching this and having the vultures and kites fly over our heads.
A lovely day out, it was slightly crowded but there it did look like a few school trips were there at the same time. Stone baked pizza was delicious and filling, £9 for a 10 inch pizza, which I don’t think is too expensive.
Lots of things to do and see, I’ll definitely be back!

What a waste of money £27 our time slot was 3.30pm , the animal reserves close at 3.30 . We saw giraffes zebras and rhinos all in the closed in houses . The Christmas markets were mostly expensive food and there was no social distancing. Lots of accents from other cities in Scotland an absolute nightmare. What is usually a lovely day out that we do often as locals . Turned out to be the biggest disappointment this year .

A very disappointed visit. It started with the lie they said on their website that made it clear that slots had to be booked online to keep crowds down. So booked a slot and duly arrived at 13:30 only to find the place mobbed beyond believe. So what was the point of limiting my visiting time? Eventually found a parking spot and preceded inside. My 9 year old grandson only got to have 2 rides because the queues for each paid for ride was so long.
Then the cost of these rides are now £2 minimum. And what is it with this silly need to buy tokens which you can't return? Why can't you return them and get your money back when you don't have enough time to queue for the rides.
Thankfully we didn't eat there (we don't have a second mortgage) but we did have an ice-cream. Nearly £15 for 4 ice-creams. Really?
I have been before to Blair Drummond and always thought before it was value for money, now it seems to have joined all the other places and tries to rip you off from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave. I shouldn't suggest this but sure that parking charges will be happening next.
Wait for all the blame going to Covid or rising prices but I think it is just greed because you pay enough to get in.

We're sorry that your visit was disappointing and that you found our staggered arrival system confusing. Our visitors have a choice of booking their tickets according to available time slots and when suits them best to arrive. We recommend booking your visit in advance to avoid any disappointment regarding time slots.
The average dwell time for a family is about 4.5 hours which is indicative and fair. Based on the feedback submitted by our visitors, we are confident to say that our visitors are satisfied with our staggered arrival times and this system works efficiently. We are still operating on restricted footfall and staggered arrival cuts down on long queues.
Our visitors are welcome to bring their own food as we have plenty of picnic areas and a big BBQ area.
Our amusement rides and attractions are additional activities that are optional for our visitors. They are very popular and many of our visitors enjoy them, however, we appreciate that not all visitors like them. When purchasing the tokens, there is signage advising customers that the tokens are non refundable.
We do have additional attractions that are free of charge, such as Astroglide slide, Go Karts, Pedal Boats, Dinosaurs and play park. We hope that this allows parents to give children a fun day out without it costing extra money.
We appreciate your comments welcome all feedback.

So went here for a family day out
2 adults 2 children
Looked amazing online, now when we arrived friendly staff very easy to get in and park up and lots to see and do from the start.
Started at the fair a few rides were closed but planes and number cars on queued up to be told you have to buy tickets beside you ride 🧐 ok we’ve just paid £60 entry and now have to pay for the only 2 rides that are working! This is one of the only attractions I know that charge admission then charge you for additional attractions whilst your inside (£2.50 each)
From there went over to the safari boats (a main attraction) again closed! To be honest not really good enough should of made this aware on entry and online!
Flying fox also closed and looked major run down!
Went around and looked at the animals and to be fair there’s not many it’s more of a big park with a few animals nothing special! Lemur island literally had 2 lemurs running around 🤥
The park was great and the kids loved it, huge slides and loads to do but would i say it’s a safari and zoo (no not even close after visiting places like London zoo and Blackpool zoo.
Overall it’s a day out with pricey food, not a lot of animals and a good park! Save the trip and money and go find a big park.
Pretty disappointed would not recommend 😔

We are sorry that your recent visit was disappointing.
Following Government guidelines, we cannot operate boat trip around Chimp Island, however, there is a new walkway to see the chimps. The guidance at the time of your visit was that most of the amusement rides, including bouncy castle, dodgems and Flying Fox had to be closed until further notice. Some of the restrictions have been lifted since then. All this information is available on our website blairdrummond.com.

Was advised that only a 3rd of the usual capacity were permitted into the safari park and chose the 4-7 pm slot on a Sunday thinking this would be quiet. This was not the case , I was really anxious due to the whole Covid situation anyway and then when I saw the amount of people gathered around the children’s play/ BBQ area I was so taken a back it was totally unacceptable. No social distancing possible in this part of the park and people didn’t seem to care at all . Try telling a 6 and 2 year old that I can’t let them play in the play area due to the amount of people congregating . They were both so upset right at the start of the visit. Yes their was hand sanitiser available everywhere and a so called one way system that some people didn’t seem to follow but didn’t resolve the crowding in certain areas. The rest of the park wasn’t so bad apart from individuals who did not seem to understand what a 2 metre distance means. I think the Dinosaur area was the most enjoyable part for the children. I wouldn’t recommend going if you are worried and a responsible parent/adult trying to stick to the guidelines as this is virtually impossible when you enter the park. They need to reorganise the eating and play area maybe allocate times on how long you can play on the park area or close it off totally . Booking time slots for tickets to the park doesn’t seem to work either as people stay all day and don’t have to leave. So sad that this was the last day out before my son is back to school on Wednesday.

Thank you for your review. We are following government guidelines and have lots of new measures in place to help keep our visitors and staff safe.
This includes limited visitor numbers, staggered arrival time, and over sixty new hand sanitiser dispensers. There's also a one way system and clear rules to help with social distancing.
On the whole, these new measures are working well. We are constantly reviewing the situation and have added in additional staff around the Park to remind our visitors of their responsibility to distance.
We are continuing to monitor developments and navigate through these challenging circumstances, and we welcome all feedback.

Do you have to drive round or can you do a decent amount on foot?
Written 31 August 2023
You can do a lot on foot and some of the drive through is viewable from raised platforms.

I have been trying to contact the park all morning as I accidentally booked my tickets for today and not tomorrow, does anyone know why they won’t answer the phones or emails. I’m pulling my hair out here as I don’t want to lose £93

Hi, if you don't want to be stuck behind vehicles on the drive through then the best idea is to turn up early, its usually pretty free-flowing early.

Do you need to reserve a BBQ or can you just turn up and use them when you want to?

This is from Blair Drummond website 'If fancy cooking a BBQ, you’re welcome to use one of ours. Just ask on arrival – we’ll even provide the coal and light it for you, free of charge.'
