Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you don't mind a bit of "interaction" from the tour guide then you will love this. Lots of interesting and spooky stories. Highly recommended.

Thank you, Naomi. We don't often have audience members QUITE so young - especially on a cold February night - but I'm really glad the whole family enjoyed The Happy Hangman's tales.

A truly fantastic ghost walk that was both funny and informative on the history of Stilings ghosts with the excellent Jock the happy hangman as our guide. Would highly recommend this and also the old town jail to everyone local and visiting Stirling!

We will definitely be going again for another scary walk around Stirlings old town.

Many thanks, Alasdaire. We're so glad that you enjoyed your encounters with The Happy Hangman in the Auld Kirkyard (and at the Old Town Jail). The Burgh has a host of dark - and daft - tales, and Jock takes delight in sharing them...especially when the nights are dark. Hope we'll see you again, soon.

Thank you, Mark. Aside from private bookings, we try to keep GhostWalk groups to a reasonable size to allow audiences to properly see and hear the sights and stories of the Old Town, without too much hustle and bustle - and so that everyone can engage with The Hangman, one-to-one. So glad you enjoyed the show - I hope we'll see you again, sometime.

We forgot the continual rain and the atmospheric chill during the ghost walk as the macabre tales, the banter and the jokes kept us well and truly warm and amused, what a fun way to spend a Friday evening. David is such a wonderful character as The Happy Hangman and his prose, manner and telling of the ghost tales of Stirling kept us all transfixed, we are still talking about it a day later, what a bloody good laugh - and we learned some stuff too! Totally recommend for tourists and residents. Thank you David for your genuine enthusiasm about Stirling's dark history and your ability to give us all a jump and a scare

Many thanks, Pamela. I'm so glad that you enjoyed The Hangman's tales, and that the truly awful weather didn't diminish the experience. I suppose 'It was a dark and stormy night..' is the start of many great gothic tales - so maybe it added to the experience. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Stirling. Safe travels - and have a Happy New Year!

Many thanks, Voyage. The Auld Kirkyard and Valley really do add a great back-drop to The Hangman's stories. Hope we'll see you again, sometime.

We have been on many ghost walks around the UK but this was up there at the top. We ended up having a 'private' tour due to the others not making it (they should be disappointed with themselves as they definitely missed out!!) David aka Jock was a fantastic guide and we were thoroughly entertained in a stunning environment. Loved hearing all the tales and we will absolutely be back next time we are in Scotland 😍😍

Many thanks, Clare (and Tez!). We're so glad you enjoyed the Hangman's tales - and the gloriously gothic backdrop of the Holy Rude Kirk-Yards and Old Town. Who could ask for more, especially with a responsive audience... big or small. We hope to see you again! Stay safe.

Fantastic, entertaining ghost walk around Stirling Old Town with David aka Jock the Hangman. Lots of interaction, humour and information about Scottish and local history. Good value for money and easy to park in Stirling for free in the evening.
Good group size and walk lasted just over 1 hour.
Probably most suited for children aged 12 +

Thank you, Miss McD. Really glad you enjoyed the show - a great way (we hope) to enjoy the history, folklore, myth and legend of the Old Town in a fun way. And still great value, after 34 years. Hope we'll see you again.

Quite simply the best ghost tour I've ever been on, and I've been on dozens all over the world.

And it's all because of David Kinnaird, who played our haunted hangman/guide last night.

His absolutely brilliant delivery of the intricately written script was impeccable. Mixing humour with horror, this is an entertaining ghost tour you will not forget. Despite it being cold enough to freeze the powerballs off a polar bear, Dave kept it so entertaining that I didn't even notice I had lost two fingers to frostbite.

The fact it's such a stunning location doesn't hurt either, with the beautiful castle on the hill overlooking the gothic graveyard, but someone really needs to give this guy a gig acting on the stage or TV.

Couldn't recommend this tour more highly. The only bad thing is it's going to make every ghost tour I do in the future look rubbish :(

Thank you, sir. High praise indeed. David (or Jock) has a passion for the history and folklore of the area (the whole of scotland, in fact - you should try his podcast, Spooks & Bogles), and that always comes across in his tours. The gloriously Gothic backdrop of the Old Town, and the Auld Kirkyard doesn't hurt, either. Thanks, again.
