Nice walk on a sunny day

A beautiful marina with a pedestrian area around. It is tidy and offers magnificent views on the city and the boats.

We have visited bangor Marian many, many times. There is something for everyone here. Lovely pedestrian area with lots of parking. The walk goes right around the bay if you are feeling adventurous. Clean and well maintained. This is where everyone gathers when there is an event. This time it was a little Christmas market for the light switch on.... More

Wanting to keep fit with a brisk walk or just need a leisurely stroll to get rid of the cobwebs this is a great area to visit. Never too busy and with lots of seating there are great views and lots to do for the individual or family.

Bangor is lucky to have this world class marina. The pedestrian walkway from the McKee clock (opposite bottom of High Street) to the Pickie Fun Park is a popular walking route for families especially at weekends. The very fit usually walk on past Pickie and along the coastal path as far as Holywood.

Large marina in the town centre of Bangor. A 600 berth marina with a 5 star rating ensures that this marina is well run and has high standards. Visited by yachts and motorboats from all over the world recognised by the ensigns visiting boats fly. Good eating, drinking and shopping on your doorstep.

Our hotel overlooked the harbour. The weather was fantastic all week. I loved just sitting watching the sail boats going in and out of the harbour.

Review of the Marina itself, not the surrounding attractions. The Marina is a well organised sheltered place to keep your boat. Manned 24/7. Well lit and very secure. The staff are OK, although are sometimes a little slow to react, particularly for getting them to the fuel berth for re-fuelling. Pontoons are in great condition and the facilities are spotless.... Bangor Marina is one of Ireland's largest - with over 500 berths - holding the prestigious Five Anchors and Blue Flag awards. It replaced a small beach that had been enjoyed by generations of day-trippers (including myself) - and its development was, therefore, very controversial, at the time. However, the Marina was needed by a more prosperous Bangor "clientele" -... More

Apart from its disastrous design deficiencies, the Marina took away the sea and the beach. From the higher parts of the town, you can see the sea in the distance! We are told that the Council (or at least a part of it) visited various marinas around Europe. Doubtless, at the ratepayers expense! If they did, they didn't learn much.... More
