This dolmen has a strange doorway and a mysterious port-hole in its capstone, which is thought to have served as an astronomical observation instrument and/or burial chamber around 2500 BC.

Trethevy Quoit begs the question, how did they do it? An ancient burial chamber that represents a ton (pardon the pun) of work to send the departed to the nether world. Very interesting to see and ponder the questions of what motivated them and what...More

As an avid hunter of neolithisc and bronze age sites in the UK, Trevethy Quoit was on the list to see ( again). Its sheer size and the manpower that created it is awesome, and though once covered in earth its now exposed stonework does...More

Trethevy quoit is really worth a visit and is beautiful overlooking St Cleer. It is now in the care of English Heritage. Just please remember that this is basically a grave so treat it with respect.

Not well signposted, but parking for about 4 cars at the edge of a tiny village green. The Quoit is visible from the carpark and very easy to get access to. Definitely worth visiting.

Drove to see it and there is a small car park close by - also an information board at the gate. Very close to houses so there's not really any atmosphere to speak of - very unusual pile though and worth a look.

We parked up near St Clear and the Golitha Falls and did a 6mile walk (that turned into 8 miles by the end) following the Cornwall 'iWalk' app and the Quoit/burial chamber was the final point of interest. I was expecting it to be higher...More
