We loved it! Very well thought out in terms of social distancing. We were met by a lovely lady who showed us some items And answered our questions downstairs first and then on to upstairs. The kids loved the Where’s Wally characters which meant we could have a good look round and a read. Some lovely items, with lots of local connections. The trench was also great. So good that it’s Dog friendly which made things much easier for us as we were on holiday.

A pleasurable visit today for a cheap price may I say! We arrived early to our time slot and was well catered for by the volunteer staff member (unsure of his name my apology) we got a mini history lesson before heading around the museum. Lots to look at and read, well stocked memorabilia and history of all wars. Would totally recommend to all, even with the cheap entry you have a years pass to return which is brilliant. Will defiantly come back when we visit Cornwall again. Top hour or so out 👌🏻 I hope these sort of places keep going for future generations to look and learn from!

Visited today and had a really good time. Currently, you will need to book a slot and you only get approx about an hour in the museum. However, your ticket does allow you to return for free within the year. Personally, I could have spent longer here reading everything but most people will see all they want to in about an hour anyway. Toilets are available to use. Museum itself had a range of memorabilia starting from early 1700’s to modern day. Lots of uniforms, pictures, letters, flags and personal belongings to look at. My favorite room was however, the room full of guns and medals. If your kids like call of duty computer game, then they will be amazed at looking at all the weapons in the is room. I was also fascinated by the more modern day room with the IRA motar and helmet where the soldier survived being shot in the helmet( thankfully). Recommend visiting this museum and an added bonus is that dogs are welcome throughout the museum.

If you are interested in military history this is an excellent museum. You need to be able to manage stairs as it is on upper floors. There were some activites for children and some interesting displays and a video of the light infantry through the ages.

Following the loss of our dog yesterday, we decided (my partner & I) to keep busy. We wanted to stay local and this military Museum was on the to do list. The museum is dog friendly including all the internal rooms which i found welcoming. The museum itself is set across two floors and has a wonderful military war timeline the exhibitions and items on display were of great quality and such a vast array of memorabilia. There is an entire floor of historical military weapons and of medals Including the Victoria Cross of which all the present and on display. I was surprised to find for half term (I have no children so I was not aware!) That the museum was free of charge for entry!! I was a little disappointed at this especially as £6 per person (adult) was such a minimum entrance fee for such a fascinating and beautiful collection in a real Army Barracks. However we did make some donations and purchased a couple of items out of the shop. (However even if the museum only charged £1 per person as a promotion- it was incredibly busy yesterday and they could’ve made little bit of money, anyway I’m not the CEO or business manager!!) I must add, the lady who was working on the entrance/shop was incredibly friendly, heartwarming, informative and very helpful. Randomly, on leaving the museum my dog needed the toilet! I had her deposit in a little bag. I did search the entire external grounds for a bin and couldn’t find one. However on stopping a member of staff they didn’t hesitate to take this bag of doggy deposit from me to dispose of it on my behalf. I found the very grateful and such a nice gesture. They also have an antique shop of books which sells simple refreshments on a honesty box service, I really liked the fact that wonderful drinks and flavours were on offer and not just Pepsi et cetera. We spent several hours throughout the museum however my only tiny tiny criticism would be, ensure there is a notice/sign saying this way to 2nd floor as we completely missed this entrance/staircase and only on returning to the lovely lady she commented on both floors and we realised we had still another floor to visit! Overall, I will absolutely be visiting this museum again. We were due to also visit the town Museum yesterday however spent the entire day simply enjoying, learning and invoking memories of my service time within this museum. It’s a must visit place!!! 10/10.
