    Wonderful castle
An excellent castle to visit. Would highly recommend to add this one to your list of castles to tour in Aberdeenshire. It's done by guided tour - no self guiding tours are available, but to be honest, you get so much more from the guided tour than you'd ever get on your own. Guides are very knowledgeable and staff is great/friendly. The only self-guided bits are in the estate grounds, including the chapel. Drum may not be the biggest castle you'll see, but it's definitely worth a visit.

    Beautiful Drum Castle
Our tour guide Paul was very knowledgeable and interacted very well with all the children visitors in the group. Great insight given to the Clan Irvine who resided here over the centuries, all the rooms we got to view were in immaculate condition with lots of beautiful antique furniture and artefacts around the place. The ticket includes entry to the walled garden which was very pretty but too early in the year to view all the roses in bloom. Small tearoom and shop to explore too. Overall worth a visit.

Holiday visit and great historical place to visit
A visit to the castle and gardens when on holiday in areas. The guided tour was excellent and questions were all answered when asked. Castle has a long history. The cafe gave good coffee and cake if needed. We sat outside in the courtyard. But you can sit inside if wanted. We did not manage the gardens on the day.

Beware if physically challenged. No consideration of disabilities of visitors.
Excellent guided tour of castle, though was a bit long at 90 minutes. Should have limited numbers on each tour for comfort and need for visitors to sit during tour. There were 18 on ours which was too large. Twelve would be ideal. Visitors could have been told to wait for the next tour. There were 2 seats available in most of the rooms, but there were more than 2 people who needed to sit down due to age/health. Also there was no warning of the extensive climbing of stairs on the tour. No mention of a disabled parking space when visiting the gardens which were a distance down the road. Also we were told that 30 minutes was sufficient time to visit the gardens before our tour started. It wasn't! It would appear that a need for training of volunteer staff is needed here to make visits a better experience. The tour itself was excellent and interesting.

Well done tour, especially if this is of your Clan!
My husband is from this Clan, so we were welcomed and asked to sign the book of the Irvine clan! How fun! We were shown a bit more of the history and more books and info. The tour was very well done. The castle dates well back and built over many years. It has many original pieces and the grounds are beautiful. So glad that we made this stop along the way. The folks there were so welcoming to speak to you about any of the history and show you other things really not on the tour.

    Don't miss this gorgeous castle
Wonderful illustration of the development of ancient Scottish fortified towers into homes that is so prevalent throughout Aberdeenshire. Delightful fairy-tale castle (lots of intrigue & legend) with gorgeous walled garden full of colourful borders. Guided tours only - our guide was informative & coped well with all questions. Gorgeous furnished rooms with panelled ceilings & some lovely portraits. Nice café located in the attractive courtyard. Unfortunately the 13c tower part was covered in scaffolding, but work should be completed soon.

    Beautiful, well-maintained property and garden
One-hour guided tour only of the castle, the garden is accessible independently. Since the castle was not part of our explorer pass, I found it a bit more expensive than the others, £27.50 for an adult and child, plus £3 for parking, plus drinks and snacks, and souvenirs if you decide to buy them. I would recommend purchasing a National Trust of Scotland membership if you plan on doing the castle trail. The tour was a bit long for my 7-year old, although quite informative for older folks. The garden was beautiful and well maintained.

    Secrets of the garden
We were disappointed to find the castle was closed but the walled garden made up for it .. covered in flowers from end to end you could tell a lot of time and care was given to every bed. And we would drive out there again just to see the beautiful sweet peas, endless roses and every color of the rainbow Dalia’s…. What a sight to see

Went for a breakfast , at 9.15 , they opened at 9am , and the breakfast arrived cold , so I had to return it , and get another one which was not much better , felt it was over priced for what it was , I won’t be having a breakfast here again , it is just fine for a plate of soup , or a coffee and cake .
Staff was lovely .

You can only go into the castle by tour only. We were pushed for time and a super large your was about to set off. We opted just to visit the outside and walled gardens. These were fine but not as good as Crathes. The outside of the castle also had some scaffolding.
