About
On May 10, 2010 the Sarwan Gidda family of West Kelowna opened the doors of Volcanic Hills Estate Winery. The 15,000 square foot winery situated on the south-eastern slope of Boucherie Mountain (a dormant stratovolcano created nearly 60 million years ago) inspired the name Volcanic Hills. Inside their spacious, family friendly winery, you’ll find many unique gift ideas, comfy sofa chairs and a large expansive wine bar with plenty of elbow room for tasting “nectar of the vines”. Open year round, tours are offered in July and August. Volcanic Hills Estate Winery also rents out its facility – for artistic classes, craft fairs, concerts, corporate and private gatherings. Come taste Bubbly Gewurztraminer, rose, red and white blends, varietals, late harvest and Icewines as well as volcanic themed blends such as Eruption, Magma and Lava. Stop by and experience wines "erupting with flavour!"

I always made this a stop when in West Kelowna based entirely on the strength of their gamay. My friend had never been so we went early when they opened. We were the only ones in the winery and yet the staff made us feel incredibly unwelcome. We were served wine by an older blonde lady with glasses who talked down to both of us and seemed irritated if we asked a question. At one point she went so far as to tell us she had already answered our question we just “didn’t hear her”. Then, despite spending a fair amount of money on wine we were cashed out by an unsmiling unfriendly brunette woman, and weren’t even offered help out to the car with a full box of wine. The gamay is good but not THAT good and I’ll never be back again. Skip this stop for people that actually want your business.

My sister and I visited on a quiet Sunday evening. It was 4:45 and it appeared from their signage that they close at 5:30. I went in anyways to ask whether they were still open because it looked there wasn’t anyone in the building or parking lot and wanted to make sure before storming inside.
Honestly, the customer service wasn’t egregiously rude, but the atmosphere was uninviting and pushy. It appeared that despite being told that we had time to enjoy a tasting, the attendant wanted us out of her sight as soon as possible. I can commiserate that you want your day to end, but you could have told us that before we came in, instead of making us feel like we were intruding.
A downhearted experience in a miserable time…

This place was new to me. Newer seen their wines in any BC liquor store which after tasting it is a shame. Purchased some Gewuerztraminer (from their vineyard) which is balanced and excellent. In my opinion it can compete with any gewuerztraminer from Europe without any problem. The reason why I only give an average has one big reasons.
the lady who served me the wine had not much knowledge about the wine or when ask for details ( where from (the wine) and so on. She seemed to think that if you taste wine you have to drink it. When I ask for a spittoon she was perplexed and had to ask the manager for help.

On a 2 day tour of 11 wineries in Kelowna, we included this winery. $10 tasting fee for each is fairly standard, indeed some charge $15 each. Nice selection of wines, we would recommend to include here on your tour.

Had a very pleasant wine tasting experience at Volcanic Hills today. The lady that poured our wines, took her time in explaining the different wines, and the wineries history. We like visiting this winery when we are in the area, as the tasting experiences, always pleasant, and the wines are very enjoyable.

Our visit to Volcanic Hills Estate Winery was outstanding, largely due to Roger, who went above and beyond to make it memorable. From the warm welcome to the stunning views of the Okanagan Valley, the atmosphere was inviting.

Roger's passion for wine and exceptional service shone through from start to finish. His personalized recommendations and engaging anecdotes added a special touch.

Overall, our time at Volcanic Hills was exceptional, thanks to Roger's hospitality and expertise. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or looking for a memorable outing, Volcanic Hills Estate Winery and their dedicated team, especially Roger, deliver an unforgettable experience. Thank you! We will be back!

A quick stop for a bottle of white turned into a lesson on many of the wines. Our server was knowledgeable and very friendly. We had time to browse and to discuss wine as well. No charge for the tasting either!!

This winery store is ten years olds and as good as we remember it!! The lava red was a big choice.

Staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the wines. Their wines are very good but not great. However, they have a great selection of ice wines is you prefer something sweeter. Their facilities are well laid out and were spotless. Lots of parking but the spots are not marked so be careful of other cars doing silly things. Will definitely go back again.

Four of us went there because we heard good things. We enjoyed Gamay Noir and Gewurztraminer. Others, especially the sweet wines, were average. Staff behind the bar were friendly and informative. When we went to pay the guy was dressed in a button down shirt and ratty gym shorts. The woman beside him just reeked. They should put more effort in appearance and hygiene. Pretty good wine. Not a great impression.

Volcanic Hills was the last stop on our wine tour this summer and it really made the trip memorable. The wines were lovely and the large open tasting room was great. What made the experience unforgettable was our time with Roger. What an amazing person! Not only was he very attentive while doing the tasting, he spent time answering questions for us about wine and food pairings, and came up with tons of ideas that went well with my many allergies and dietary restrictions.
If you make it out to try the amazing wines, try and ask for Roger to elevate your experience to the next level!
