Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The natural environment is wonderful, trees, flowers birds, all make this a lovely area to visit. It is the rude humans and their dogs that make this place so awful. Dogs should not be allowed or if so limited to the short trails and picnic areas, certainly not on the orange marked trail which is narrow steep and uneven to walk on.

This place is beautiful, however supplies NO security for your cars. When we rocked up we noted a few broken windows on the ground in the carpark, we thought nothing of it. (perhaps a few kids at a one-time spate) however, after walking for an hour and a half, we came back to our car to find the same fate. Our window was smashed in and our posessions rumaged through! NOT happy! called the Gosnells police, they didn't care! Would NOT go back there!

This is great little day trip right on the edge of Perth. Perfect for walking the dog with plenty of trails to explore. The abandoned quarry next door is quite a sight when it is filled with water too. The loop does not take very long to complete

Great pic-nic spot surrounded by wilderness and so peaceful but at least 8 car bays were scattered with broken remains of shattered windows .Why doesn't anyone clean up the mess so that nature loving people can enjoy the Perth's Hills without fear of loosing their belongings and going home with no windows at all!!??
Which is the Council responsible for that area? Well please wake up anjd do your duty for the sake of us people living Western Australia and for the tourists !

Absolutely amazing place to visit but my car window was broken today and the low life took valuables from my car. Such a wonderful day but spoilt unfortunately by a person that has to steal for a living.

If you want to see the best display of natural wildflowers in the Perth metropolitan area then Ellis Brook Valley Reserve is the place to go. There are a number of easy walking paths (Blue Wren, Eagle View and Echidna) which will take you through plenty of wildflowers. Plus there is the tougher (but not too tough) Sixty Foot Falls walk which will take you to the top of the falls with great views over the valley to the Swan Coastal Plain. Don't forget to check out the Old Barrington Quarry.

There is little in the way of amenities. Just a long drop toilet and some picnic facilities but no water tap. However, a food van did set up shop the day I was there.

Bring your camera, good shoes, water, food and sunscreen etc as much of the trail is exposed.

The best way to get here is by car. But I got to the reserve by taking the train to Gosnells station and then walking about 6kms.

Definitely worth a spring time visit.

We took a couple of walks in the reserve. Went up to the waterfall (not flowing very fast) and the Blue Wren Ramble. Wildflowers were just starting to blossom. The dogs had a great time, running in and out of the water. Stopped for a cup of coffee at the Kiwi Catering van which is highly recommended. Lovely home baked treats and even a free one for the dogs! Home made pies and other delicacies. Run by a lovely couple. Can enjoy a coffee/snack/lunch sitting on one of the benches or take a walk and sit alongside the river. Great way to spend a few hours.

We enjoyed a beautiful day here with our family, but came back to our car to find our rear window broken, our video camera stolen and an attempt made to steal our hand-bags from the boot of our car!!! We had thought since there were many families in the area that we were safe, and had inadvertently left the camera there, out-of-sight, but not hidden enough to prevent it's theft. Fortunately our eskys prevented the theft of our hand-bags at least, but it was devastating enough and we will never return there. Apparently this is very common there we now know. We've never ever had a break-in at any other picnic spot around Perth so this is very disappointing, and more so now to read of the experiences of others who have obviously had the same happen.

I took my three granddaughtes to Ellis Brook Reserve, they loved wandering around the bush, looking at the wildflowers. The 60ft waterfall was overflowing, but too hard a climb for young ones. I went to Ellis Brook a few years ago, so noticed the huge changes that have been done to restore the area from what was a derelect old quarry. Great place for a picnic and only 5 minutes of the Tonkin Highway. A well kept secret in Gosnells Western Australia

My sister and I went to check this place out after hearing about it from a lot of friends. After getting to the place where there's an information sign with all the trails on it, she went back to the car to get her hat. Just as she came back to me, other hikers came back from their trail and headed to where we parked our cars (the car parks were closed due to fire restrictions so we all parked around the culdesac). We headed back shortly after to see all the cars parked there smashed and possessions stolen. It was truly tragic to see this unfold in the timespan of about 5 mins. I would recommend getting dropped off and picked up again so you can enjoy the amazing trails and scenery without worrying about damage to your car or possessions stolen. Take care and hope you have a better experience.
