About
Set in 52 acres of woodland, formal gardens and meadow, Dunimarle Castle and Gardens provides a beautiful day out for the whole family. Just a short walk along the costal path from the West Car Park at Culross; follow the signs and enter through the rose arch gate. You'll soon feel like you have been transported to another world, where you'll find the beautiful Victorian Castle and Chapel. There is an incline to the top of the gardens via the resin path or through the snowdrop walk where our recently opened Tearoom (The Orangery) can be found. Here you can order a delicious breakfast or lunch, with plentiful options of home baked cakes, scones, artisan coffee and teas. You can also sit on one of our outdoor tables in the courtyard with stunning views over the Firth of Forth. Tours of the Castle and Chapel are available on certain days, therefore please check ahead for availability. We also host weddings and our very popular Easter and Halloween family events.

Set on a lofty viewpoint with views over the Firth of Forth and linked to a revivalist castellated imposing building the Orangery tearoom is as grand as you could wish for. Enjoyed a brioche style roll and a competent coffee at the courtyard seating area.
A little walk from the west car park soon brings you to the marked entrance then up the path to the well appointed and designed tearoom.
This new addition to Culross' hospitality offerings deserves to do well.

You will have to look hard to find it but it is well worth the effort when you eventually do. A magnificent tucked away castle with fantastic views and beautiful grounds, complete with historic chapel. We visited the cafe at the orangery, where the staff were super friendly and helpful. There was a delicious selection of home baked goodies and the Edinburgh Red Box teas were a perfect accompaniment. Great to see a few dogs running around too.

Top tip - park at the Culross West car park and then walk along to the pedestrian entrance to the castle. Enter through the lovely rose arches and then walk up by the chapel to the orangery.

My wife and I, both of us in our mid-sixties, took a stroll along the north shore of the Forth and saw the sign stating that the castle was open. We walked up the very steep, windy hill from the shoreline and went into the Orangery Tearoom to order a drink and some cake. We asked the member of staff who served us how we get into the castle, and we were told that we couldn't if we hadn't booked. I went onto my Eventbrite app, which you use to make bookings, and it couldn't find the castle on the database, so not much chance of booking for the next day, which I intended to do. To be truthful, we had already had problems booking another venue using Eventbrite, so didn't hold much hope of booking the castle. In the end I gave up trying to book for the next day and we decided to wander around to try and find the entrance to the castle to talk to someone, but gave in with this as well as it all seemed locked up. I'm guessing they only open if anyone books online, so they can't be getting many visitors due to the abysmal Eventbrite app. We really enjoyed our drinks and cakes, which we had on the courtyard where we had a magnificent view of the Forth. The tearoom staff were lovely, but it's a long walk up the hill just for a cuppa.

We had a guided tour of the castle and grounds. The guide Ian was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the local area and he made our visit so enjoyable! We will be back to see the snowdrops and can’t wait for the cafe to open. The grounds are stunning and extremely well kept. The chapel was beautiful and atmospheric. Fantastic value for money!

We were there on a very rainy day later in the afternoon. The gardens and grounds are beautiful. The estate manager was very informative giving some information on the castle and future plans for the grounds.
Castle itself was closed on that day, but we will be back to get to see inside.
