Home of the Marquess of Anglesey, with spectacular views of Snowdonia.Set on the shores of the Menai Strait amidst breathtakingly beautiful scenery, this elegant house was redesigned by James Wyatt in the 18th century. The 1930s restyled interior is famous for its Rex Whistler association, containing his largest painting and exhibition.A military museum contains relics from the 1st Marquess of Anglesey's tenure, who commanded the cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo. There's a fine spring garden and Australasian arboretum, with an understorey of shrubs and wild flowers, a summer terrace, and massed hydrangeas which give autumn colour.A woodland walk gives access to a marine path beside the Menai Strait.

Interesting house in a fabulous setting. The gardens are lovely with different areas to walk around and the views across the Menai Straits to Snowdonia are fantastic. But it is quite a long steep walk down to the house, a shuttle is available for those...More

The house and gardens are lovely with excellent views of Menai Straits and Snowdonia. The staff in the house were very knowledgeable and helpful. The buggy transport from the shop to the house is very useful in bad weather. My only criticism is the catering....More

The house is situated a little way from the entrance and requires a walk down through the grounds, however, if, like me, you cannot walk that far, transport in the form of a buggy is provided. We only had to wait a short while for...More

Very friendly staff who showed us the best way to access the house and grounds with the wheelchair. Some of the grounds are steep and not easily accessible if you use a wheelchair or have mobility issues. Stunning views across the Menai Straits. The ground...More

An amazing day with four red squirrels spotted and photographed. Some almost seemed happy to pose! The house itself was very relaxing and great views of the mainland and straits separating Anglesey from the main land. Inside the staff/volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The...More

We wouldn’t normally go to something like this with our three teenagers but the lure of the frisbee golf took us there. We found a beautiful house and park with lovely clean toilets and cafe. The adventure playground was a bit basic but we loved...More
