- emilyjjohnson2017Austin, Texas93 contributionsA great tour and tastingDid the Five Decades Tour and had a great time. We have toured distilleries all over and still learned some things (as we do at every distillery we visit). Glengarclas is a favorite scotch so not surprised that we enjoyed the tastings as well...even buying one of the bottles. Would highly recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys Glenfarclas.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 October 2023

Julia was exceptional and the tasting after was wonderful in very relaxing and comfortable tasting room. The whisky as always was excellent. Big thanks to Callum Fraser distillery manager and Julia our tour guide. Julia went above and beyond by giving us a lift back to our hotel when we couldn’t get taxi.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 11 December 2023

Great to see so many traditional methods maintained. Thanks Julia for such an interesting and informative tour.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 12 December 2023
- Pinkie M13 contributionsFantastic afternoon!Fabulous afternoon!! What an amazing visitor centre steeped in history - believe it or not some is nautical as the bar has panels and a ceiling from a historic cruise liner! Julia and Steve were fab in the shop and helped us select some purchases. We then had the absolute pleasure of meeting Callum who was the Distillery Manager. He was very personable and friendly. We enjoyed our visit so much, we hope to return once we have exhausted today’s purchases! Thanks all! Top team 🌟 🥃Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 February 2024
- Matt LBanbury, United Kingdom28 contributionsAmazing experience at Glenfarclas 🤩🥃!We popped into Glenfarclas on the way back from Aberlour and received amazing service from Julia, Steve and the distillery manager Callum. Glenfarclas is a mid-size distillery, but has a local feel and is more intimate than some of the other corporate distilleries. The range of whiskies for sale is very impressive, with exceptional knowledge provided by the experienced team. Well worth a visit!!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 February 2024
- SooziQ68Edinburgh, United Kingdom41 contributionsGlenfarclas Scotch whiskyLovely distillery set in fantastic grounds. The distillery reception is fantastic - clean and lovely historical display. Friendly staff and excellent tour guides! Great to see some manual aspects to this distillery along with some automation. The cost is reasonable too with most other distilleries charging way more. You can feel the pride everyone feels towards this distillery. The wee dram at the end can be taken away if you are driving and no sales pressure.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 March 2024
- Camper597008689121 contributionGlenfarclas - a class aboveJulia did an exceptional job explaining the process of whisky making. She is obviously very knowledgeable. We planned the trip to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and she indulged him with a tasting of 1963 Glenfarclas. This is one experience we will treasure.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 March 2024
- GarryBeauly, United Kingdom34 contributionsBrilliant authentic Speyside distillery.A wonderful distillery that has been family owned and run for generations. That level of continuity has allowed them to play the long game and stay true to their traditions. Our guide, Donna, was exceptional. So knowledgeable and friendly. There are so many distilleries in Moravian’s hard to know which ones to go to. If you are in any doubt then I can’t recommend Glenfarclas highly enough.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 March 2024

The distillery itself is a credit to the traditional ways of producing whisky. It is immersive and you find yourself among history in every room. Steve our tour guide was extremely courteous, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. This was my group's highlight of the 4 days touring the Highlands. Thank you to all the Glenfarclas staff for making this a memorable experience. Highly recommended visit when in and around the Spey side.Visited April 2024Travelled on businessWritten 11 April 2024

What a great experience the distillery tour was. We toured the distillery on the day it "fell silent" for summer: although the last mash had been emptied we were able to see the stills in operation. Rosie was a great tour guide, even though she doesn't touch a drop! There were twelve of us on the tour, of mixed nationalities and it was a good group in all respects.
The tickets for the Classic Tour were £7.50 each; this was a bargain for an hour and half experience. The tickets each included a £5.00 discount against a 75cl bottle in the shop. There were tastings for the non-drivers and a miniature for the drivers in the group.
I would highly recommend the Glenfarclas distillery tour and suggest that you book well in advance (you pay on arrival). There were several people who turned up on spec for the tour and were disappointed - don't let that be you!

What an absolutely amazing experience. This was booked as a filler (please forgive me) between Cardhu and The Glenlivert.
So, £7.50 !? Why is it that price? Surely there's something wrong with it? Maybe you get to see the bins at the back of the toilets for £7.50.
How wrong I was. We (3) went the Saturday just before lunch and was early. We was greeted with a massive smile and a warm welcome and an explanation of the entry price, they make and sell whisky, family made whisky, not a flashing lights dancing girls day out, my words not theirs. Sarah, our guide, then proceeded to spend all of her available time with us answering questions and explaining the product in detail. A pre tour tour if you like. This lady's knowledge and experience within the industry absolutely shone through with a passion. To be fair I would say that she made the day extra special.
The tour itself was relaxed, friendly, un hurried, very very detailed and an absolute joy to be part of. Beautiful old buildings, great surroundings, and if I remember rightly a good 2hrs. We were shown right through the making process from start to finish (standard) but with extra little snippets of information along the way which dont seem to be a part of other tours, please refer back to the knowledge and passion.
The final section was the tasting, oh lord, what an absolute treat. A glorious oak panelled room which was very elegant indeed with delicious drink set out ready dive into. I honestly think it couldn't of been any better. Again the knowledge and passion was brought out throughout the tasting which really enhanced the whole afternoon. No less the three drams, first class.
I have been on a few distillery tours in Scotland and Ireland and without question this has been the best.
If you are into whisky or not, it's a must.
If you are in the area or not, it's a must.
In reality, you should be considering travelling bare foot over broken glass to get there.
Go there soon and enjoy.

At the time of visiting, the tour was free ( all they ask is donation for charity which i would recommend you do as it’s well worth it) . Very interesting, informative and well done, they even surprisingly did a tasting at the end!!! Can’t recommend this enough. Staff very friendly. A well run distillery, lovely to know that it is still family owned and true to itself. Delicious whiskey too!

From the moment we arrived, it was apparent that safety was taken very seriously: cars are asked to park a car's width apart and there are clear entry and exit signs. Tours currently are free. We only had three households on our tour, which was led by Kirstin, who was so interesting and was happy to share her knowledge. We were taken on a virtual tour of the history behind the distillery and an actual tour of the distillery. As no whisky was being made when we visited, we were able to see the machinery behind the processes up close.
Kirstin was happy to answer all questions and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Our tour ended with a tasting session where Kirstin again was able to talk us through the particular characteristics of three different whiskies before we went through to the shop.
We were struck by the continued family involvement in the distillery and the obvious pride and enjoyment in their work shown by all staff.
We would definitely highly recommend a tour.

July 2021 visit was a free 1hr 30min actual distillery guided tour. Very informative guide (Kirsten - PhD student with a genuine interest in whisky). Easily heard all information despite mask wearing during the indoor parts of the tour. It all felt very COVID safe with participants (naturally!) standing socially distanced.
Your included seeing many aspects of the whisky making process and into one of the cellars. The beautiful tasting room grand finale where you hear about the panels being bought from a sunken ship, was lovely.
It was a free tour at this time and we received 2 nips with the driver getting one miniature to take away.
Booked 2 days in advance via email with no problem.
Highly recommend

The distillery tour was fantastic. Steve, our guide, took us through the whole process, getting us up close, and his passion and sense of humour were a winning combination. We spent more than an hour touring the family-owned site, with Steve introducing us to everyone from the distillery manager to the gardener. We also tasted a 10yr and 15yr, all for the price of a donation to charity. For lunch afterward, the Copper Dog at nearby Abelour was very good.

My brother is law and I did the standard distillery tour for £12 on August 30th. It took about 90 minutes and our guide Rosie was knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend.
We were there during the silent season (no distillation going on should be going again in a couple of weeks). This should not discourage you for a second from visiting.
As with all distilleries the standard expressions have a significant mark up compared to supermarkets never mind online retailers.
At the end of the tour we sampled the 12 and 15yo. They're nice and the tasting room with the oak panels and comfortable chairs and tables added to the ambience and overall experience.
Again shout-out to Rosie who did a great job telling us about the distillery, the family, the production process and the whisky we sampled.

This has to be the best Whisky tour I have ever been on. It was completely free and lasted 1.5 hours. It is family run and they just ask for a donation towards charity. The young lady guide just never stopped telling us fantastic information , even whilst often having to walk backwards !! I just don't know how she remembered it all . You could see she really loved her job and was so knowledgeable. Afterwards we sat in this lovely wooden room and had 3 tastings each ( 10 + 12 year and the 105 bottle). For drivers instead they gave a miniature 10 year bottle to take away. Loads was plenty of free onsite parking.

We did a road trip of Scotland and went to about 10 distilleries, doing their respective tours.
For the actual tour of the site, Glenfarclas was by far the best. The speaker was very knowledgable and they really do take the time to not rush you through the site.
The speaker was very balanced. They gave honest appraisals. This balance made the tour a real pleasure. There was no over sales focused hard push, or telling you over and over how amazing they must be. It was factual, fair and honest.
It’s a beautiful distillery and it was a pleasure to be shown round.
The tasting element was also well presented.
Glenfarclas are currently only doing their basic tour. When they resume their more lengthy tastings I’ll be sure to return!
For completeness I note the tour was free on account of it being during the covid period. There was a gentle collection for a local charity - which I was more than happy to contribute towards. I think this is just outstanding - and shows the value of family businesses.
Only very mild negative is that the pricing of bottles in the distillery shop is a little random. Some bottles have a good price that you’d get elsewhere (say 15 YO). There are a few bottles at quite a premium to what you’d pay on Amazon or other such sites (say 25 YO or 175). There didn’t seem to be too much rhyme or reason as to what were good buys and what were not.
For completeness I’d note the family cask series (IMHO) was very reasonably priced. Plenty of bottles being sold slightly less than you’d pay at auction (once you add in the buying fees etc).
I can see myself returning before too long!

We really enjoyed our tour around Glenfarclas, our tour guide was friendly and incredibly knowledgable (she had an answer to any question!). The tasting was of course the perfect way to end the tour, and the driver of our party really appreciated the 20cl bottle to try later that night. It's also really nice to see an organisation supporting local charities ahead of their own profit! (At the time of writing this tour was donation only.)

I don’t think we have time for a tour. Is there a tasting room available to try the whiskey?

Hello
Are the whiskies served in five decades tour available in tasting room menu??
Written 19 September 2018
I don't believe that it's a standard tour. This being said everything is possible if you contact the distillery in advance and make arrangements with them.

I have booked the 3.30 standard tour, and I'm trying to plan my transport so I'm curious as how to how long the tour is.

It took us about two hours as we wanted to see some rooms twice and I asked the guides loads of questions. All the guides were fantastic and very knowledgeable. Then we spent loads more time in th tearoom and shop. Time outside was rather short as it was raining very heavily.

DO you need to book this tour in advance? Many of the comments report that when they visited, place was closed. I will be visiting in June 2015, staying in Forres, would like to tour Glenfarclas if it is possible.
Written 30 March 2015
Yes, of course - a reservation is required. As they are still independent and try to give their outmost, they kimdly ask for a reservation in advance. I am pretty sure that if you go there without reservation by chance, you still might able to have a couple of drinks at the visitors' center
