Loved the experience
Sep 2021 • Couples
We loved our visit at the distillery. We usually drink Glenlivet whiskey, so it was great to discover the history of the brand and see where the magic happenes. Our tour guide, Heidi was very knowledgeable and we loved the way she emerged us into the brand history and the production process. I love the fact that Glenlivet is helping the local farmers and are focusing on sustainability.
The shop had a very good selection and big thank you to Heidi who talked to us about the special reserves that are made for selected countrys. Looking forward to try the Taiwan exclusive.

A fine tasting experience
Sep 2021
Due to COVID, the tours were limited to a tasting. Disappointing? Not the least. We had a tasting with Michelle. She spent a solid hour entertaining us with her knowledge of the whiskey offerings of Glenlivet. We left with a deeper knowledge of Scotch whiskey and a few bottles of some hard to find whiskeys.
This was a great stop.

Stunning New Distillery Visitor Centre, Truly Amazing Experience
Aug 2021
Glenlivet has spent a lot of money to completely renew their flagship distillery visitor centre, and it certainly shows. It is both opulent, impressive, and yet welcoming and warm, with a great deal of effort put into keeping it linked with the distillery's storied history of over two centuries. There will almost certainly be distillery tours again when the pandemic is contained, and that will make the whole experience unforgettable.
We did a private tasting of 4-5 cask strength single cask older expressions, both bourbon and sherry cask finished, with a very knowledgable guide in charge. Afterward, we perused all the tempting bottles in the shop but couldn't resist a hand-filled 12yo bourbon cask distillery exclusive for an incredibly reasonable 50 pounds.
You will not be disappointed if you make the trip here, and surrounding countryside is also stunning.

Fantastic couple of hours
Sep 2021 • Couples
A fantastic interesting couple of hours at this distillery. Certainly worth a visit. We are by no means whiskey lovers but the tour was very interesting & informative. We also got to taste 3 locally produced whiskeys The tour was made more enjoyable by having such a friendly, informative, professional young guide by the name of Lucy. Who despite her young age certainly knew the history of the distillery & how everything is produced

Luxury experience
Aug 2021
You should visit the Glenlivet Distillery even if whisky isn't your thing, it is absolutely stunning inside and the staff are wonderful, so friendly and helpful. My husband was the one taking part in the tasting which he enjoyed and I was able to relax in the bar area enjoying a hot chocolate which is a really nice touch as I usually have to wait outside at other distilleries. The shop was well laid out with no pressure to purchase anything even though we came home with a few bags of whiskey and glasses. I would definitely recommend paying a visit, go and check out the bar for a cocktail if you can.

An amazing experience!
Aug 2021 • Friends
We were met by our host John. Very welcoming, knowledgeable and accomodating. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed some of The Glenlivet cocktails and coffee in the bar prior to our Glenlivet visitor experience and tasting. Our guide Andrew was outstanding. Very polite, articulate and so knowledgeable about The Glenlivet and the distillery. I can honestly say that this was the best distillery visit I have ever had. The entire experience was quality from the moment we arrived until it was unfortunately time to leave.
Thank you to all at The Glenlivet for such a memorable day.

Great day out
Aug 2021 • Couples
Its all been done up so it looks fantastic. Our tour guide squeezed us in last minute which we were so thankful for. Really informative and it was nice to chat to other whisky lovers. Ended up buying a bottle! The wee bar had a nice atmosphere. I had a coffee (driver) and partner had a whisky cocktail. Highly recommended!

Fantastic
Aug 2021 • Friends
From the minute you walk in the door you are overwhelmed by the fabulously friendly staff, coupled by an amazing selection of whiskey in a delightful setting . We could have stayed in the lounge bar all day it was so comfortable and tastefully done and the staff continued to be attentive and friendly. No need to do the tour just drinking, relaxing with a bit of retail therapy thrown in was all that was needed.

Wonderful tasting by Andrew at Glenlivet
Jul 2021
We booked the Single Casks Tasting. The guide, Andrew, talked us into the history and process of the Glenlivet whisky. He was very knowledgeable and answered with details all the (many) questions we had, he really knows his whisky!
He chose for this tasting 4 drams, exploring the effect of different casks on the whisky maturation. These were a 12 years old ex-sherry cask, two 16y/o (ex-bourbon and ex-sherry) and finally a 18y/o (ex-sherry, but 2nd fill). This was a great whisky exploration which we thorougly enjoyed.
The renovated visitor center is very beautiful. There is a wide choice and price range of Chivas Brothers' owned distilleries single casks, and of course all the Glenlivet expressions.

Glenlivet poor experience
Jul 2021 • Friends
This was the final tour of a two day whisky experience we thought we had saved the best to last as the refurbishment of the VisitorCentre has been recommended. Ha gad
Sadly this experience did not come up to our expectations.
1 Our tour guide although clearly experienced in the whisky industry was a very poor communicator and one of our party had to leave the tour .
2 The technical issues during the presentation were disruptive and distracting.
3 Very disappointed that we were not given any access to any part of the whisky production process and that the mash tun experience was artificial and patronising.
4. At the end of the experience we were asked if we enjoyed the tour to which we gave an open and frank response.
We hope Glenlivet will take time to rethink their approach and style of presentation of this tour.
From our experience we would recommend the Glenfarclas experience that is informative and free if you make a contribution to their local charity which is the local foodbank.

I minori di 18 anni non possono prendere parte al tour guidato in distilelria (è così in tutte le distillerie, per legge) ma possono ovviamente entrare nel centro visitatori, al negozio e al ristorante sempre accompagnati da un adulto.

I didn’t do a tour here. Your questions could be answered best by the Glenlivet Distillery. Go to the distillery’s website and go to the very bottom of their website, select “Contact Us” and send them an email with your questions. Good luck and enjoy yourselves!

What are the driving conditions and weather like during end of October from Edinburgh to Glenlivet distillery (Ballindalloch)?

Agree with the above. October is often very good weather but if it isn't so good there won't be snow at that time of year

When is the "silent" season?

The Glenlivet
Glenlivet, UK
Our silent season this year ran from the end of May to the beginning of July. It is usually around that time but the exact dates vary from year to year according to the extent of the maintenance jobs required.
Hi, Is there a way to bottle your own bottle without taking the tour? Thank you

Hi! I would like to know What is exactly "Definitive Spirit" tour? What all is included in it? My wife is not a malt connoisseur, so can she accompany ?

The Glenlivet
Glenlivet, UK
The tour and tasting last around 2.5 hours and includes a full tour of the production facilities, followed by a visit to the warehouse where guests enjoy a sample of whisky drawn from the cask. In the tasting room, there is a nosing of the spirit cuts followed by a comprehensive tasting of our range of whiskies. Driver's packs are available so that the samples can be enjoyed at home.

Can teenage kids go on the tours?

The Glenlivet
Glenlivet, UK
Hi Charity H, I'm afraid that our age policy has changed this year and children under 16 years old will no longer be able to go on the tour. Children are welcome in the visitor centre, exhibition area and café under parental supervision. If we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to give us a call or an email.

how long does the tour last for?

The Glenlivet
Glenlivet, UK
As the reviewer above has said, we will be introducing a longer tour when the visitor centre reopens on 13th March. The £10 Classic tour will last approximately 1 1/4 hours and will include two tastings and a complimentary gift. You are welcome to contact us directly if you would like further information on our tour options and booking.
