Dog friendly (keep on lead), wonderfully kept lawns in what is a truly spectacular Roman Amphitheater remains in the UK - you can also walk to the nearby Roman Barracks and Roman Baths. Historical day out for all the family, kids will love it.
We came across the amphitheatre by chance which added to the excitement! A wonderful place, which both adults and children enjoyed exploring! Amazed at how intact it still was, worth a visit in this quiet part of Caerleon.
Great place to go when visiting the area - you get the impression of what it was like in Roman times. The Roman baths are local too which is free entrance plus a small museum. There are plenty of local pubs if you fancy a...More
A great morning walking around Caerleon, and the Amphitheatre. The Amphitheater gives you a real idea of how the Romans used to spend time enjoying them selves.
Great place for a picnic with children as well. Free to enter.
Spent an afternoon exploring the Roman remains and reading the informative supporting information. The amphitheatre doubles up as a venue for outdoor theatre during the summer. Exploring or theatre an amazing experience.
Been meaning to get here for years. Well preserved small amphitheatre similar to one in Romania. We got there 5 minutes before gate was locked so came back again in the morning. Fascinating site. Of course I had to play the ‘my name is Maximus...’...More

There aren't any picnic tables but as the car parking is very close (adjacent) then it's possible to take your own picnic chairs and table should you wish. Lots of grassy area to pitch up with chairs or lay blanket on the ground. Additionally Caerleon has a lovely cafe in the fwrrum which is only a 5 minute walk away. You also have the Roman museum you can visit.
