Since it is the tax office of the North Rhine Westfalen department, only the outside can be visited. It is very nice but a shame the inside isn't accessible.

Wonderful gardens, old trees, swans, labyrinth. You can participate at a guided tour for the building or walk on your own through the garden. There is also the possibility to marry in style.

Visited the castle and did the approx 45 minute long tour. Tour guide tried to inject some humour, but spoke very fast and was difficult to follow even for a native German speaker. Rooms in the castle are nice, however, since the castle is being used as a business school for finance, you do get a classroom feel in some... More

Yep, you'll probably have seen this place in the travel brochures and books about castles, palaces etc... But until you see this place in person, you just don't get any idea of the size and scale of the palace and surrounding moat and gardens. Quite an amazing place - you need to walk around and explore. The proportion of the... More

Beautiful place for a picnic or cycling or just a walk and take photos. Amazing building and has been well looked after, gardens are stunning and plenty of places to sit in the shade. I have been here in winter and summer and always impressed. Also a spot to buy ice cream or a beer after the walk.

A wonderful outing for couples and families to enjoy. The palace offers a variety of pleasures; long walks through the charming forest, exquisite manicured gardens with interesting statues, great restaurant overlooking the surrounding water, marriages, festivals, bike trails, museum etc. Really worth a visit!

Stunning old "castle/palace". Walked around it in the freezing cold - sadly no snow. It would be stunning in the snow. apparently every few years it gets so cold the moats FREEZE over and the locals ice skate around it - now that would be AMAZING to see or do.

Nice large grounds where you can walk and spend an afternoon. Tours of the castle offered for 3 euro. Self-proclaimed Versaille of Germany - does not quite live up to its promise. Free parking and entrance.

We didn't have a lot of time to visit Nordkirchen so only had a stroll around the gardens and didn't do the visit. The building seems typical of the area in being made of a dark brick. The gardens were an interesting mix of formal areas and some less formal wooded paths. We enjoyed the visit and would like to... More
