About
We are a traditional 'family oriented' boatyard on the beautiful Norfolk Broads with over 80 years experience in this field. Our services are, 2 hour skippered sailing for up to 4 people per boat, so you can 'have a go' or hone existing skills - RYA Sailing Tuition for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels, which also includes Learn to Sail Holidays - Cabin Yacht hire, some with 'electric quants' (see our website for more info on those) are available as 2, 3 or 4 berth boats - Half Decker (day boat) hire for solo sailors on our single sail balanced lugs. If you need something a little larger why not try some our gunter rigs with mainsail and jibs like Sundew or Buff tip. Perhaps you're a more experienced skipper who is looking for something a little faster? We have the only 2 Rebels on the Norfolk Broads for hire. These girls are high performance boats and in the 'right hands' can give an exhilarating sail.

Booked the 2 hour skippered sail for my family (2 adults, 2 children 10 & 6) as my eldest had been reading the Swallows and Amazons series and wanted to sail. Our skipper Steve was fantastic, taught us what we needed to know, let the children have a go on the tiller, engaged with them in their endless chatter etc. Steve was very knowledgeable and also friendly. We really enjoyed our trip.
The staff in the yard were friendly and helpful too, easy to park and toilets on site too. A collection of information and boats to view inside too

Our 2023 midweek cruise on the Broads on Hustler 3 again a great success: The Hunters Yard team take great care of their boats and their customers -faultless, the atmospherics of sailing the Broads has to be experienced first hand and no better way to do it. We experienced in a day everything from full breeze sailing to picking out the zephyrs between the trees from Potter Heigham to Malthouse Broad to Barton Turf - another great trip.
We love the Hustlers for their agility and liveliness, being very well behaved and predictable, and as quick as any, great tacking up narrow waterways, recent addition of auxiliary electric drive means sticky situations and low bridges become very manageable literally at the press of a button, taking away anxiety some might otherwise feel. Thank you Hunter's Yard!

I enjoyed a very nice 2hr skippered sail yesterday, and would highly recommend. The boat was one of the lovely Rebel class that Hunter's Yard operate, which as a long term dinghy sailor I found fast and fun but also relaxed to sail. Ezra looked after me, trusting me to helm, and very helpful sharing his knowledge and with the transition to keel boats. A friendly welcoming boatyard, with a fleet of well maintained historic boats. I am already looking forward to going back next year.

Return visit to Hunters Yard with a great day's sailing on one of their lovely old wooden boats. As others have said, the staff are not only so knowledgeable, but also very friendly and helpful.
Valuable 'briefing' from Ezra before our sail and on our return at the end of the day he even helped us with the intricacies of refitting the sail cover.

Thank you so much for the memorable day you put on for The Arthur Ransome Society on Wednesday. We sailed two lovely open sailing boats and Titmouse from the films of the Broads books. You couldn't have made us more welcome and were discretely helpful when we couldn't get back through a crowd of Hullabaloos. We also looked round a Teasel lookalike.

Brilliant experience of traditional Broads sailing. Perfect hire of a traditional wooden boat for overnight trips for adventurous teens and adults with some competency already as sailors. Also run courses and taster days to try out sailing the traditional way. Very friendly staff and the boat was beautifully maintained ans equipped.

We only passed by but this was the tidiest, best kept boatyard I’ve ever seen. The boats were gleaming and the staff very friendly. Had we been staying longer we would have loved to take out a traditional boat on the Broads. Maybe next visit!

Our yacht we chartered, a half decker called Brown Bess was absolutely beautiful. Our instructions from the Hunter Boat team led by Vikki were spot on and we enjoyed a fabulous afternoon sailing on the Norfolk Broads. Thank you Hunter Boats

Thank you for taking the time to review our boat and team here and for adding your photo. We're really pleased to hear you both enjoyed your sail on Brown Bess, she's an amazing little girl, we knew you'd like her.

Absolutely amazing little Yard. Staff are super friendly, know their stuff inside out and offer more assistance than you get from big commercial centres. Great range of boats for all skill levels. We've been a few times and cannot wait for the next time.

We booked a 5 day family learn to sail trip. Unfortunately due to our family circumstances we could not complete the course, but the few days that we had with Neil were excellent. He was very patient and calm and also very informative considering we had never sailed before. We did actually learn a lot in the short time we had. Beautiful surroundings, great boat that everyone wants to look at and take photos. Very understanding staff . Would definitely recommend this trip.thanks everyone.
