About
As one of the wine tour pioneers in the Medoc region, Chateau Kirwan, family-owned estate, began to welcome wine amateurs and professionals in 1995. The winery offers a wide range of creative options such as culinary workshops, wine perfume creation, immersion tours, barrel tasting... The property, a Third Classified Growth from the Margaux appellation, has belonged to the Schyler family since 1926. The chateau, with a sober but refined architecture, witness to the French nobility's art of living prior to the French revolution, is surrounded by a beautiful 2ha park. The fermenting room and the cellars, recently restored, have kept pieces of ancient architecture mixed up with modern design. Chateau Kirwan is an award-winning chateau: in 2008, 2012 and 2018. There is one type of visit for every taste, and Chateau Kirwan offers a variety of tours tailored to your needs. All our experiences are available by reservation only, in French, English, Spanish, German and Deutsch.

Lovely helpful lady. Went to this place on a whim as it was suggested by staff at Chateaux Margeaux. Had arrived at 12.10 and they were shutting for lunch at 12.30 but stayed open. We did not a tour just a tasting and info about the wines and grapes we were tasting. They stayed open for us until 1pm and we rewarded the service by purchasing 2 cases of their lovely wine.

Our Viking trip of the Bordeaux region was a good one, but this was the "capstone" of the trip. The culinary team and wait staff of the ship all gathered at the chateau to put on a spectacular meal for the entire ship. We had no idea that they would go to all that effort--it was a total surprise to us! And it was a good one!

The chateau is a very nice one--small, but well done. The outside was hard to see at night, but the interior hd been renovated in a very interesting manner--it is a "historic" one with a real modern touch. It is well done! There are old elements built in (some are obviously new, but still appropriate, as well as some great treatments of the ceilings area and the exterior doors. The woodwork inside is excelent and it creates a very warm feel to a space large enough for about 250 people.

The menu was excellent and the wines were great. The staff did not talk up the meal as much as they should have. If you are on the cruise, DO NOT SKIP THIS ONE!

I thought this was one of the best wines we tasted in Margaux. The Gran Cru was excellent and very reasonably priced for such high quality
The Chateau grounds are beautiful. Dinner was prepared by the team from Viking Cruises so it was suburb. With our without a dinner, this is a wine tasting you must make

Our visit to this lovely Chateau was part of a good-bye celebration planned by our Viking cruise trip. We did not taste wine here or visit the vineyard, but we did enjoy a banquet in their beautiful, historic event space. It is our understanding that they are very popular for wedding receptions and the like and it is clear why. The grounds are spectacular and the dining area is perfect! There were about 180 of us and it was a perfect fit. Dinner was provided by our cruise chefs, who did an amazing job. I would go back to see this Chateau again.

Our Viking River Cruise staff provided a evening at this elegant Chateau for a incredible evening of French food and, of course, some fantastic wine. I can’t and will not call this venue a “catering” facility. It is not!!! A wonderful menu, supported by a unbelievable staff and, oh yes, a variety of France’s next Bordeaux wine. We enjoyed A Bordeaux “White” that I can not find in the USA.....
I can’t say enough about this fantastic venue!!web site: chateau-Korean.com

Kirwan produces great quality wines. I was particularly impressed by the quality of their second wine of 2015 (a great vintage). Nice facilities and friendly staff!

Visited as part of a group tour. We were greeted by the owner who shared the history and background of the winery, that is currently being run by the 6th generation. As with the other chateaus the property was beautiful.

We had 3 wines (1 white & 2 reds) that were nice, but we favored the reds. Overall, we had a nice time and enjoyed our experience.

As a Kirwin I'm slightly biased. Didn't know what to expect but I was blown away by the attention to detail that this Chateau pays to its wine production had a great tour with Manon our guide and the wine tasting was excellent

We arranged a tour of Chateau Kirwan months in advance and were warmly greeted on arrival by a nice young lady named Coralie. We were very impressed with her knowledge of the history of the Bordeaux region and how the wine industry developed here. We received a nice tour of the property and Coralie described the wine making process in great detail; the fermentation vats of Italian origin and the aging process for their vintages. If you are in the area of Cantenac France it is worth a stop.
