Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of few Chateau’s you can call into the boutique shop cold ( no appointment) and browse and taste. Helpful staff with some nice wine options. Tasting is charged whether you buy or not. Interestingly, the first wine can be found in some major supermarkets in France at about €20 less per bottle than being sold at the Chateau. Just sayin.

There is no better way to start off a day by driving through sunny Bordeaux. Everything about this region screams romance from the brimming green hedgerows, crystal clear skies, chalky soil, charming architecture and of course lashings of a wonderful language and its pronunciation which, I could listen to all day! Add some amazing wines, wineries and lets face it amazing cuisine and there is no better way to spend a week or two exploring this region and all it has to offer. And wow, does it have a lot to offer. Chateau Leoville Poyferre has it all! Meandering through the windey roads of Saint Julien we arrive at this beautiful and beautifully manicured Winery. Access is via the back of the road we enter through and under a white timber covering into the beautifully appointed Tasting Room/Gift Shop. We meet our gracious, knowledgeable, passionate and very polite tour guide who starts us out with the history of the region and the winery. After a little immersification we set out to view the perfect grounds, perfectly maintained buildings to the tank room. It is no less perfect than any other part of the winery and there is nothing out of place, anywhere! The attention to detail here is beyond perfect. After a well rounded and in-depth tour we arrive at the tasting room with several bottles to sample perfectly paired (it really was a perfect pairing) with cheese. The wine of course was no less stunning than the property and the attention to detail was evident with every taste of this velvet nectar. If you are in Saint Julien this is a must for anyone who appreciates wine. WOW!

Five of us did the Finesse tasting--three Leoville Poyferre Grand Cru Classes from different vintages--paired with chocolates. Divine! We did a couple of tastings in St. Emilion the day before and they could not compare to this in quality, content and sheer pleasure. I could not recommend this experience more.

Was slightly disappointed by the tour and tasting compared to other Chateau we visited.
We went for the "Finesse" tasting and convinced the 2011 wine was corked but the guide was having none of it, just saying a poor wine!
The tour is quite limited as not much to see other than the wine facility and current vintage cellar. Would have been good to see some of the other cellars and further around the property.
Come across more commercial and less personal a visit than some of the others.

We were two couples on this tour, reserved through the Maison du Vin at Pauillac. Great service there too, by the way. The tour was very instructive, with hands on showing of both grapes, soil and fermentation /cellars. And great tasting. Very insightful and lively guide. This château has invested a lot in their visitors facilities, which seems to be a trend among the more forward looking winegrowers in the Bordeaux area these days.

Part of AMA Waterways tour. There
wasn’t much of a tour, but she
did explain the vinification
process and terroir well.
The tasting
involved their outstanding 2015
and a much older wine (Y2000?)
for comparison, as well as other
wines. Great tasting. Their
retail prices are way jacked up
versus what you can get online
back in the USA.

Actually we tasted 2011 and 2015 at Grand Cru Tasting in Bordeaux before the visiting Château on next day. Chloé guided us very well and showed the differences of main Bordeaux vine varietals at the mini vineyard in the garden. After visiting the vinification areas we tasted 2010, 2011 and 2012 then decided to bought 2010. Their wines were really very well balanced, integrated and refined.

While this is a serious Grand Cru winery, the people are fun, friendly and it’s a nice educational experience. They’ve planted vines of the different bordeaux varietals so you can see the difference in how they look, both grape and leaf formations. The wines are delicious and they do a really good chocolate pairing.

This is an unusual estate that is coordinated with Leoville Las Cases. The tour walks you through the fermentation facilities as well as the barrel aging areas. It is worth the time and the tasting is excellent.

Visited here with friends and we found this Château quite a good wine visit. Our guide was American ,spoke perfect English and was very knowledgeable about wine industry. Wine tasting was good too but disappointed that Château still has not much interest in pursuing the organic and biodynamic interest of some of leading winery's.
