Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked a tour by phoning in advance. Staff were very helpful. Our guide was very nice, spoke excellent English and was happy to answer questions. He was also very nice towards our children who were made to feel very welcome. The cellar was amazing- it was great to see such a modern winery. It is clear that they have invested a lot of money into the new facilities. It was nice to hear the history of the chateau at the start of the tour.

The barrel rooms were amazing to see and they gave a welcome break from the heat outside as they were regulated to a temperature of 14 degrees.

We got to taste 3 wines at the end. My favourite was the Chateau’s 2nd label, the Amiral.

We bought two bottles at the end as a keepsake of this lovely visit. I would have given five star had we been able to go around the gardens is the chateau-unfortunately this was not permitted but it’s something maybe the operators of the chateau could consider for tour guests.

After reading a review in Food and Wine - we made a reservation here to stay. Our room was amazing - huge with the largest bathroom. The room was elegant and comfortable. At one point we asked if there was a place to sit outside for a glass of wine - and they moved out a table and chairs for us. We also decided to have dinner here with wine pairing. We even had an option to have a staff member to join us to talk about the wine, dinner, and history of the place - which we took and it was amazing to learn so much more about the estate. Because it was my 40th birthday, they found a bottle of wine from 1977 to serve. The fact they opened a 40 year old bottle of wine for me was amazing!

The Château offers, according to themselves, the following tours:

1. "Visit Amiral": Duration: 1h15. Prices: 12€/person for a grouped tour; 15€/person for a private tour. 10 people maximum per group. Walk along in the history of Château Beychevelle and discover the great figures that made the prestige of a Grand Cru Classé in Médoc. Follow the guide through the new winery and step on the historical cellars of the Château. Finish your tour with a commented tasting of two wines of Château Beychevelle.

2. "Visit The secrets of the winemaker": Duration: 2h. Price: 40€/person. Come and be our guests at Château Beychevelle to discover the secrets of the art of making great wines. Step in the shoes of the winemaking team and experience the life of the winemaker. Follow your guide through the old cellars and explore the new winery, between tradition and modernity. At the end of your exploration, challenge yourselves on the art of tasting with a mystery tasting of four wines of Château Beychevelle.

We went on "the secrets of the winemaker" tour. The wine-making process was explained to us thoroughly. Our guide, Maude, was extremely competent knowing every step of the wine making process (and more!) and a great deal of the chateaux's historiy as well. And she was very nice, too. The Chateau has recently (in 2015, I believe) build a new winery, so the equipment for the fermentation process you will see is state of the art). We didn't get to see the castle inside or wander among the grapes - the latter I think was because it rained a bit - so the tour took place in the wine cellars, new and old. Afterwards we were allowed to stroll in the castle's garden. During the tasting, our €40/person only brought us each about 1 dL wine in total, the best of which was not yet matured to be ready to be drunk. We enjoyed the tour but I thought it was a bit expensive - otherwise I would have rated it a 4.

Part of the Grands Crus community according to the Medoc 1855 classification, Chateau Beychevelle is a typical example of the nowadays luxury industry approach. With an impeccable marketing presentation, the visit is a pleasant mix of visual presentations, history, vineyards brief visit, cellar tour (very artistic) as well as a small wine testing session at the finish of the tour. Also you have the possibility of visiting the gardens of the castle afterwards. It is worth paying the tour fees (reservation only).
The visit gives you also food for thought about the degree of industrialization and commercialization that the famous Margaux wines achieved, loosing most contact with family and local winegrowers.

Beychevelle produces great quality wines, and their wine making facilities are top notch. Their wine tasting experience is very enjoyable. We did a private visit during a harvest day, so really interesting visit.

A real mixture of old and modern. Tour guide was very good and very knowledgeable.

Didn't charge for our children who were old enough to still have an interest.

As a more occasional wine drinker I learnt a lot.
