Lots of information about the fauna, flora and geology of Oman but the museum is sadly neglected, faded and the staff bored.

Oman had modernised so much in recent years it has entirely wiped away all of its past. This is about the only place where you can see items of clothing, weapons, household items, photographs coins and much more of how Oman used to look like and what you to a certain degree expect parts of it to still look like.

Our taxi driver had to be shown the appropriate page in the guidebook to find this place, and we virtually had it to ourselves. A shame, because it has a lot of information about geology and geography, and natural history, is clean and easily navigated, and we came away knowing a little more about Oman.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this museum. My colleague and I had a couple of free hours after a conference on day so we decided to stop in. It is small and a little old, but extremely informative. I did not realize there was so much wildlife in Oman! I highly recommend a visit!

This small museum is located with a Oman government complex and provides an excellent outline/timeline of the topography and geology of Oman. Another building houses the full size skeleton of sperm whale along with its pictorial history. Well worth a visit! Allow about 3 hours - there is much reading to appreciate the full value of this small museum!

I visited with my wife and baby. It was an interesting Museum including Oman's natural wildlife (stuffed of course) but it was rather small. It took us approximately 20 minutes to see it all. Still worth the visit

I usually try to find the NHM whenever I travel. This one was particularly well organised. The explanations are in both Arabic and English, and are placed chronologically. My favourite part was a "quiz" on the information one learned about Oman after finishing viewing - perfect for kids (small and big!). The material was really accessible - I was not... More

My fiance and I were on a bus tour of the city and the Natural History Museum was one on the bus list. It was small and included quite a few displays of old stuffed animals and described the landscapes and information about the country. The best bit in our opinion is in the section next door, there's a shark... More
