Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I love Amouage perfumes and decided to include a tour of their production site in my Muscat itinerary and what a disappointment. Our guide was bored and uninterested, told us nothing about how the perfume is made or what makes it special. The shop itself sells exactly the same as duty free in Muscat airport where you get a more friendly and welcoming service. It’s not worth a detour. Such a shame as so much more could be made of this, perhaps it’s just indicative of a tourist industry that is in its infancy and hopefully they will develop this into a better experience in time.

While this is one of the most expensive perfumes in the world, the overall wow effect is missing purely due to overall building design and outdoor set up. The story told by the hostess is just reading the text from the exhibits. The perfume itself is definitely quite unique and at least worth testing.

I start the review by saying that me and my husband are big fans of Amouage parfumes, that's why we wanted to see the place where them are produced.. The tour was ok, even if the workers already left the factory and we couldn't see them making the parfumes. We received information about the producing process and the history of this awsome brand.
But we were frustated by the fact that they gave a bag of samples to one omani guide for his clients (even if they didn't bought anything) and for us which we drove 2,5 houres to Amouage they didn't even ask if we are interested in samples.
This is lack of respect for tourits!
Too bad, we changed our minds regarding the omani hospitality!

I booked an appointment with the visitor's center for a guided tour. The guide explained the history, ingredients, and the team behind the perfumes. It was a nice experience to see people distill essential oils, store perfumes in large vats, and the process of quality checking and packaging. Some members have been working here for nearly 30 years.

You can buy a whole perfume bottle or small testers as a gift. The perfumes smell divine and luxurious on a level that normal ones can't match.

We visited today not really expecting too much, but we’re pleasantly surprised. We were given information on the history of the perfume bottle, the essential ingredients and were shown the vats of scent and where it is packaged. Really interesting and then you are able to try a few of the scents, sadly beyond our price range!

What a treat to walk the history and discover the new perfumes. We use the traditional GOLD perfumes but were keen to try the new range. Wasnt overly thrilled with the new range, based on modern aromas, they were not for us. But only here can you confirm your favourite and that we did. Duty free purchase on the way home for sure. AMOUAGE is the best perfume/aftershave in the world for sure. We wouldnt use anything else. Top Tip, if your over 50 stick with the old range.

This place is closed on Fri-Sat. It is open on weekdays from 8.30AM to 4PM. However I was lucky to visit this place on 23rd July - Renaisance Day. Call the number listed, to reconfirm the timings.
After the Muscat Airport, turn towards Nizwa at the Sahwa clock tower. There is a board that directs you towards the service road, pass by the petrol station and you see Amouage on the right.
A guide will give you a history of each of the perfume lines and you can read about their ingredients. The guide will also show you the area inside the perfumery where the perfume is bottled, cleaned of fingerprints and packed - manually.

The tour may take about 20 minutes or so depending on your interest. You will also be taken to the boutique where you can buy the perfumes.
Overall a good experience, can be visited while passing through.

I went with a few of my friends to this factory. Very nice place clean and morden. We all agreed that its not worth a special visit to this factory. As you enter the place you go to the area where all the the spices are kept. But nothing to explain how they are used to make different perfumes and the guide had very little knowledge to.

The next part was to go into the factory where you don't get to see how the perfumes are made all you get to see behind big glass windows is big tanks where the perfumes are already being made and the perfumes being boxed up you don't even get to speak to the staff who are involved in making the perfumes.

You then go into the perfume shop where you can buy the perfumes. 1st) they are expensive. 2) they are the same price as the shops.

We all came out thinking it was not really worth a visit.

Visiting the producers of the world's most expensive perfume sounds exciting. It is not as you see only bottles being prepared for filling (behind glass panels). Still it is worthwhile visiting the factory since it provides you with an insight in the production process. Omani coffee and dates provided by very friendly staff. Excellent shop, high prices as anywhere in the world.
