    Lara Bay
Beach is located North of Coral Bay and is one of the few beaches known for turtle nesting. From May onwards Turtles lay there eggs on this beach which are then looked after by a dedicated team of conservationists. Ill warn you the road to this beach isn't really a road and will take long than you think.

    Well worth the drive
The drive to this lovely beach was interesting as was a near ‘off road’ experience! But well worth it to get to a lovely long beach with no one else there! The drive was also great as it takes you through some wonderful coast line and rock formations that are part of the national park. The beach has protection for the turtle eggs that have been laid there and hatch early mornings. There is a nice unique taverna at the end of the bay.

After a rather long and slow drive down a very bumpy dirt road we reached Lara beach. The first thing you notice is just how peaceful it is, the water is beautiful and clean and the beach itself, though may not be the best beach I'm Cyprus, is still very nice. It's a beautiful experience and being able to educate our little one on the conservation of turtles just added to a wonderful experience, we watched the amazing sunset before setting back on the ling bumpy road. It's worth a visit if you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle and arent afraid to venture off the beaten track.

You have to be motivated to access it but very nice quiet beach and beautiful sunset spot!
The road is not paved at all to avoid a massive influx of tourists into a protected area. About 30min drive to 15km (in city car), quite frequent car passage anyway.
The beach was covered with turtle nests when we passed by! But no turtles seen unfortunately...
It is not a diving spot (many waves) and the beach is not monitored.
Think about taking water!

It was the last beach visited by us in Paphos. The road is a little difficult if you go with a smal car but totally worth it. We've been there in July and there were not tourists at all. Just the sound of the waves, the sunset and the turtle nests. Really clean and warm water, with a long beach. We stayed to watch the sunset and weren't dissapointed.

We stopped at Lara Beach as part of a larger excursion. While it was much needed to stop there so we could jump into the sea and cool down after hiking, the beach itself is not something I would go out of the way for. It is known for the Turtle Conservation which is amazing as there are hundreds of turtle nests on the beach that are protected. The problem is people do not follow rules and use sunscreen (distracts the turtles smell when they are trying to swim back to their nests) and umbrellas (can smash eggs when going into the sand). Wish the rules were stricter! Nice to see if you are in the area but not worth going out of your way or spending too much time.

Lara beach north.
To get there by car the road is feasible even if dirt but very wide. We made it with a Kia, just drive carefully, but there are no particular dangers.
Avoid the central hours of the morning 11-12 as there are excursions in quod and you find yourself with quite a number of quad bikes at full speed overtaking you raise dust and all the people poured on the beach. Luckily they only stay 20 minutes.
To get to Lara beach north easily put on Google maps the destination “stairs to Lara” and takes you to a convenient spot with parking.
Bring water and food
Umbrellas prohibited although most do not comply with the ban.
Unfortunately I fear it will not remain untouched for long, but it is up to all of us to be respectful of these places ....

Beautiful page remained natural, without deckchair or umbrella. Huge stretch of sand that you reach after an unpaved road , go there with an adapted car (we had an SUV and it was ok ). The mountain scenery to get there and the views are beautiful. The beach is a turtle nest protection site in its upper part , it is very nice to see , with Qqs explanations on the birth of baby turtles .
I highly recommend , this is really our favorite beach in Cyprus - Paros for nature lovers and quiet!

Unique experience.
You can only come here in a long dirt road.
Beautiful, sandy, natural beach with big waves. There are protected turtle nests all around the beach. One of the best beaches in Cyprus.

Lara beach is a large protected area frequented by various animals, and among them the turtles that reproduce in spring. The road is dirt, but also passable by normal cars. There are no umbrellas for hire, and we found the beach very clean today, October 14, 2024, with the rubbish all piled up in the corner. There are 2 or 3 dining options. One of them is located along the dirt road, right on a sharp bend at the bottom of a descent, opposite there is also a menagerie for farm animals. And that's where we had a bad experience, mentioned in the title. We stopped to swim in a nearby beach, characterized by sculptures made of stones piled on top of each other, to form towers in balance. We parked the car in a slightly shabby clearing and without any indication, right on the sharp bend. Nearby there is also the kiosk and the tightening of animals. After an hour, when we returned, we were attacked by a "gentleman" , I think the manager of the kiosk, who said that we should not park there, because, according to him, the clearing is his. We didn't want any trouble, so we paid for his stop, even though it was clear this guy was just looking for money. I think the Papfos authorities should monitor this situation.

Locals told us it was no problem to get to Lara Beach, even if you weren't renting an off-road vehicle. According to reviews online, it was unpleasant but doable. Because all the roads were closed, we were guided by Google Maps along unsecured serpentines where there was no way to turn around and not a soul in sight. After the accident with our rental car, which would have caused us to fall almost 20 meters due to the old, inadequate handbrake and we were only stopped by a tree, we were only found 3 hours later by the rescue team, who had had an accident themselves on the way to us.
Trauma and shoulder surgery were the result...

Long story short - avoid this place at all costs and don't try to drive there!!!!!!
