Tempio di Ercole is in the Valley of the Temples. I saw the ruins several times while on the road driving to the location. Seeing the row of columns while driving up to the entrance made the visit all the more intriguing. (Although, after getting a close of view of this temple, I have to say the view from the... More

Historic Ruins that are amazing. We were with a group tour so our guide was able to give us details of the location and it's history.

Amazing structures which you have to wonder how they were erected all those years ago. You have to see these to believe them.

When you see the siza one of the doric capitals disconnected from the tops of their columns and lying on the ground, you are amazed and have wonder how they were wrangled up to the tops some 2500 years ago. I was duly impressed.

I saw these columns several times. At night they were particularly magical as they were lit up. A must see while in the area.

Out of the 3 main temples in The Valley of the Temples that are still standing, this is the one that is the least intact. There are still some columns standing and you can imagine what it looked like in it's glory

The columns that are all that remain, a bit thicker at the base and not as elegant as its valley counterparts that came later, but a sense of the majesty of this temple is still evident despite its meager remains. Imagination and a good guide will make this space come alive.

Tempio di Ercole/Temple of Hercules/Heracles, built 510BC had six columns front and back with fifteen down each side, measured 73.992 metres x 27.788 metres. This is the oldest temple on the site and there are only nine columns left, eight were re-erected on the southern side in the early 1920’s. All the temples on the site are magnificent regardless of... More
