About
Discover the allure of one of Italy’s most prized foods. At this month-long festival, held in the northern Italian city of Alba, you can see Medieval activities with traditional dress, watch a donkey race, visit special art and music events, witness people bidding on the stratospherically-priced white truffles and of course indulge yourself in truffle tasting.

Rare white truffles are native to northern Italy; they are hard to find using dogs. The white Italian truffles are sold at auction; they tend to be very expensive, depending on their size. Black truffles also go on sale, though they tend to be more prolific and comparatively less expensive. Truffles are valued for cooking; they have a rich, earthy flavor that is quite unique. Output depends on climate trends and how easily the truffles can be discovered.

I was expecting a place similar to a farmers market, but I Found a very clean and organised situation. There were plenty of truffles and similar products (oil, honey, salsa, etc) and a place where we could have a quite reasonable meal. Going to Alba this is certainly something to be visited.

Very well organized. I recommend choosing an early entry time, as it gets crowded at lunch and after.

OK, so it is a bit crowded on a Saturday but it is absolutely worth going at least once. This is a sensory overload in a good way. The whole place smells like truffles. Over and above white truffles, every variety of local Italian specialities is available for sale, including wines, cheeses, meats, pastas, oils, mushrooms etc. You can also order food and wine for lunch at the festival.

An amazing immersion into all things truffle, plus opportunities to sample delicious cheeses, salumi, and wine. A great place to buy truffle-infused items (and, of course, truffles).

This was awesome! Alba is a wonderful town and this fair was super to see. Lots of yummy products made with both black and white truffles to sample, wines to try (although we didn’t due to time constraints) and other local products for sale too. One friend bought a beautiful carved “charcuterie board”.
Glad we went!

Very interesting to see the white truffle fair, where u can purchase truffle infused products and wine ( there is the opportunity to try before u buy)

If u r interested, u can attend a cooking demo (we attended one at lunch time) and then sample the dish with fresh white truffle shaved over the meal (truffle shavings at market price). There was wine included in this meal.

The fair itself isn’t very big.

I really love this festival - I’ve been several times now and Alba itself rolls out the red carpet for the fest too. The booths are so much fun, be sure to get the wine tasting options it’s fun - there’s a whole row of vintners too taste wine as well.

The tartufo smell is super strong but I love it - it always surprises me! Mellow and intense and I really love the oil that is easy to purchase with family run farms and booths with personal service.

Loved the cheese tastings too! 🧀

Alba is a beautiful little town, and the festival is a must for food enthusiasts. Great fun, and the second time we've been to the truffle festival. Would absolutely go again!
