Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The abbey was built in the 12th century for the Benedictine order. It was completely refurbished in the 16th century by design of Giorgio Vasari. It took almost a hundred years to finish the work with the construction of the bell-tower in 1650. There are some impressive paintings in the interior and the cupola was decorated by Andrea Pozzo, the Baroque painter.

The church is beautiful and ancient, but the centerpiece is the beautifully restored array of paintings by Vasari and other important painters of the era. The ceiling of the dome is by the creator of the trompe d'oil effect, Padre Pozzo. Stand on the marker by the altar and look up...it's a stunner.

Visit April 2023 - Don't be fooled by the stark and almost modest air of the facade but enter, you will discover many valuable works as well as being the custodian of the relics of the holy martyrs Flora and Lucilla to whom it is dedicated.
The church was built in the second half of the 13th century as a Benedictine monastery, it was renovated and enlarged in the following centuries also by Vasari and the bell tower is also from a later period.
Already from the façade you can see the different periods of which it has witnessed, in fact you can see the Gothic part with traces of the medieval portal, in the center the 16th century portal which covers the previous one and on the left the extension dating back to the same period.
The interior has 3 naves, at the entrance on the right we can find one of the two works by Vasari that were moved from the Parish Church of Santa Maria and precisely the one called Pala Albergotti from the name of its owner. In this altarpiece there is a depiction of the Assumption and Coronation of the Virgin together with Saints Donato and Francis, and other female saints. Curiously, here Vasari also made a self-portrait of himself among the Apostles present on the scene.
The second work by Vasari brought here from the Pieve is located in the presbytery, it is a monumental complex with various panels, the central one represents Saints Peter and Andrew, on the sides other saints.
Above the main altar there is a peculiarity: a fake painted dome that deceives even the most trained eye.
The works also include a wooden Crucifix by Baccio di Montelupo, a wooden Crucifix on a panel by Segna di Bonaventura, a painting of Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica as well as the relics of Saints Flora and Lucilla.
A church not to be overlooked and underestimated on a visit to the city

The church is in the historic center of Arezzo and is among the first attractions I visited. The interior paintings present are beautiful. The exterior is rather simple.

There is not only the Duomo, San Francesco and San Domenico to see in Arezzo. This is also among the most beautiful churches. The works inside are noteworthy, including a large canvas by Giorgio Vasari
