Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am regular guest for over 10 years. Today’s slope preparation was terrible allthough weather conditions during the night were good for preparation. Due to daiky bad weather forecast they probaly assumed there will be less skiers, so why bother. Black slopes Herrnegg and Sylvester were dangerous to ski already at 10:00 in the morning. Due to high ticket prices that aditute is unprofessional to say the least. I wrote a letter of complaint also to official email, bit did not get any reply or explanation. Too bad.

Upsides:
Plenty of runs for intermediates
Lovely long blue back into St Vigilo so would be good for beginners and offers gentle run at the end of a days skiing
Plenty of mountain huts for breaks
Modern lifts
Downsides:
Takes a while to get to the top of resort from our base in St Vigilo (three gondolas and a chair lift )
Be prepared to unclip often since most of the slopes are only accessible by gondolas.
Very poor signposting of pistes both from the top and along the way. But after a couple of days you get familiar with the area
No apres ski or so low key we never discovered any

Although the facilities are modern and fast, traffic in the tracks is excessive and skiing is sometimes really dangerous due to the crowds.
At the end of the day, tracks are a disaster. I rather prefer the Dolomites close to Cortina or Alleghe or the Austrian Tyrol with amazing views and more technical tracks.

Views,views,views..gondola up the easy way or take a scenic 3.5 hour hike up.
There is a easy one hour walk around the summit that impresses in all directions.
Mountain bike heaven for those that are geared up.Worth the journey.

If you like groomed pistes with a wide diversity of difficulty, this is the ski field for you. The entire field is groomed each night, and it caters will for beginners through to advanced skiers (25% of pistes are for the latter). Especially ideal if you like tree-lined pistes, and unparalleled facilities with >20 fast gondolas. Only negative point is that local town (Bruneck) is nothing special; it has a very pretty main street but otherwise is very ordinary.

Kronplatz offers wide, well prepared runs that are convenient for intermediate and expert skiers. We had 5 fantastic days, full of Sun, and we enjoyed the skiing in its maximum. The gondolas are brand new and there is no queuing at all. The slopes are very well prepared on mixture of artificial and natural snow. There is a big choice of ski huts and the prizes for coffee and drinks are very similar to the prizes you find in the restaurants and bars in the bottom villages. On sunny days, the view of Dolomites is breathtaking.
This was our first time in Kronpltaz, but certainly not the last!

having heard so much about this really large and well kept ski area, we decided to visit it, I admit on Christmas. So far everything fine. lopes are really great and various, for our children who skied with my wife, as for me sking since I was 3 years old. However I´d never ever recommend it to families with children: we returned to valley compleately exhausted - the waiting times at cable cars are simply exaggerated and sking itself here turns out as a dangerous adventure, so crowded are the lopes.

the ski tracks are not cleared, there are piles of snow on every meter, it is impossible to ski, there were no warnings about the situation on slopes

Kronplatz ski slopes are well maintained each morning. It is real pleasure for visitors and good proof of hardworking people. This is one side. During the main season visitors need more information about rules: how to behave on the snow. We don’t like to find line of snowboarders sitting in the middle of the ski slope; long line of small children with just one teacher, drunk people on slopes and similar. Such behavior can spoil fine days for other visitors, thousands of nice people of all ages. Next good solution can be different categories for older skiers and more discounts. People over fifty are not skiing as much as teenagers and seniors over 65 are rare. We still miss better maintained and arranged parking areas as in the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.

The most modern ski area in all of South Tyrol-Südtirol with top ski lift facilities and perfect ski runs.
Ideal for active sports enthusiasts (featuring the “Black5” – five black runs that really stand out).
Great Food is available in the many baita's across kronplatz !

Are the ski lifts dog friendly and if so is there a charge for dogs?

Hi, we are staying in Riscone, so is it possible and how to get to Alta Badia and ski through the Sella ronda and come back to Riscone, all in one day?
Thanks!!
P.S. we would like to avoid skiing down do Piculin- we heard it’s very difficult..
Written 19 February 2020
Apologies for delay. Very do-able ! Don’t worry about Piculin because you can take gondola down. Bus is easy to Alta Badia although leave plenty time to work your back before last bus. Well worth doing !

Is there a small village near the ski resort? I see that Brunneck is very far (45 min by car). Which would be a good town to stay?close enough but with options of nearby restaurants to enjoy a good dinner. Do we need to rent a car?

Go to Olang and you will find good spot for you. Near the ski slopes and with some hotels and restaurants. There is a ski bus to the ski slopes.
