The view of the church and the plaza directly below the massive, forbidding cliffs is as beautiful a site as one could want visiting an exotic land. The Norman fortress church itself was very pretty, not only on the outside but also on the inside. We especially enjoyed sitting at one of the cafes on the perimeter of the plaza,... More

Worth seeing for the architecture (Norman) alone. Richly appointed in the nave and the beautifully plain in the rest.

Great view into the past. This Cathedral was built in 1131. Although there aren't regular scheduled Masses here, the Church is open, available for local weddings, if you are lucky enough to be there, but also available for you to light a candle/pray, or just enjoy the Norman architecture. Wonderful piazza in front of the Cathedral serviced by a couple... More

You can see the cathedral on the horizon from many places in Cefalù - one of the best views is looking down from La Rocca. It was originally Norman, but with a Moorish twist and 15th century additions. Inside, there are lovely Byzantine mosaics - it's a pity that they are roped off and you can't see them close up.

After walking up a slight incline for a couple of blocks, then there's some stairs, and a ramp. Be careful. The interior is amazing for such a small town, but the view with the sheer mountain side behind it is outstanding. The Piazza below offers some great views, too. Please remember to leave an offering before you go.

Travel guides alert you that this duomo has the best Byzantine style mosaics in the world. Probably true. The huge series of mosaics behind the alter are mesmerizing. Also features Greek columns that were probably robbed from the Temple of Diana on the Rock. Worth a visit.

Mosaics are beautiful but only in a portion of the church unlike Monreale or the Capella Palletina in Palermo. The town itself is dead in December.

This cathedral is probably THE most viisted monument of Cefalu! It's shape is really interesting... looks like a castle! When you go in... the main attraction (which you can't miss), is the very beautiful altar with the famous Jesus painting on top! We even got a little surpirse... we got to witness a wedding! I remember her name was Valeria,... More

not as ornate as some in Italy it is more simple and thus more beautiful (in my opinion). The wooden vaulted ceiling and high windows add to the feeling of holiness and peace.
