The Norman Cathedral at Cefalu is a focal point for the town and rightly so.The mosaics inside are marvellously preserved, having survived the years of war and pillage by various conquerors that the island of Sicily has seen. They and the adjoining cloisters below (separate...More

We visited the Cathedral built in 1130 as part of a day trip to Cefalu. It is hard to believe how long this magnificent building has stood the test of time! The mosaic of Christ on the ceiling is awesome and I believe very similar...More

After Monreale and Palantine Chapel, this is worth a visit. It shares the history and design but in a larger and less touristy way. We took the 55 minute train from Palermo and spent 30 minutes inside. It is free entry. Beautiful architecture and sense...More

This is where Roger II wanted to be buried, but Palermo's Duomo stole his body for themselves. Still, the decoration is fit for a king. The interior has top quality Byzantine mosaic work, although only the east end is complete. If Roger's successors had continued...More

A beautiful little town that is a must see. Easy to navigate with wonderful sights of historical interest, several little shops and restaurants / cafes in abundance. Loved it.

Beautiful church with a mix of styles. The mosaics in the altar are incredible. The location, at the top of the square, is very attractive. The entrance is free. You only have to pay if you want to visit the cloisters (around 3 euros).

We had an optional tour here and were somewhat disappointed with Cefalu in general. It is small and looks like a number of old villages in Sicily. However, the Duomo was quite impressive inside with its mosaics. Worth a look.

This is a UNESCO heritage site. Well worth a visit. Gorgeous mosaics inside. Built during Norman times - around 1100. Exterior has distinctive Norman style. The mosaics inside are unexpected from the plain stone exterior. Go see it!

Nice and lace but nothing special. When you go to Cefalu it is normal to see the Cathedral. It is quite big church with nice interior.

Must see if you come to Cefalù. The Duomo di Cefalù is located at the heart of the town and surrounded by a beautiful piazza.

We traveled at the end of March. The Duomo had changed their visting hours from the hours listed in our guidebook. I would check the hours upon reaching Cefalu and plan your day accordingly. I don't think they would cover... More
