Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited on a port day while cruising the Mediterranean and were prepared for what we experienced having read the reviews here. It's a fairly large site/complex, much of which has been loving restored presumably to stop further deterioration, however, the site is showing a lot of signs of neglect and it could do with a little bit of TLC. It doesn't take too long to explore but is certainly worth a visit.

The site is of absolute interest. A very kind volunteer led us on the visit, which lasted an hour and a half but flew despite the great heat. Too bad that the place is almost impossible to reach except by own means. There are no signs or public transport (line B indicated by Maps has been deleted). Taxis refuse the ride from the cruise terminal xchè inconvenient. A shame the total absence of the municipality. We hope that soon the situation will improve x allow more visitors access.

We had read reviews about this place and the reviews oversold it. This was a good introduction to Roman baths. However, the best Roman Bath to visit is in Bath, England, and if you have been there, these were not any more informative. However, if it is a chance for you to see how Roman baths were arranged, then it is worth a look.

I took the local bus from the railway station Civitavecchia for Euro 1.60 return, it was a pleasant ride through the hills to Le Terme Taurine the Republican Baths which date back to the 1st century B.C. and The Imperial Baths built by Emperor Hadrian between 123-136 A.D. If you have half a day to spare in Civitavecchia it is well worth a visit, there is so much to see as the ruins are well preserved and the entrance fee was only 5 Euro.

We were in transit in Civitavecchia for one short day during a cruise. Initial plan was to go to Ostia Antica or Roma. We had the bad surprise not to see any "normal taxi" around the port. Nobody wanted to simply drop us to Ostia Antica ("just for tour with a mnimum fee of 300Euros). Finally, we decided to visit the Taurine Thermes which was a great surprise ! First of all, it is very easy to go by public bus (line B or D). Then, the site is very nice and quiet, with a very good welcome from the staff. Ruins are enough preserved to imagine how were the Republican and Imperial baths. The panoramic view on the sea is great. In brief, it was really a great discovery, just few kilometers from our cruise ship.

So much to see and like previous reviewers practically had the entire site to myself. It consists of a huge Roman bath complex, library, hospital and underground storage chambers, an area that appears to be waiting further excavation (for want of a better word). As is the case with so many ancient Roman sites it has been built up and redeveloped over 100's of years, dating from BC to well into the years AD. Well worth a visit if you have time in Civitavecchia as its not expensive to enter and is as interesting and fascinating as any of the ancient ruins spread across Europe.

We have stopped in Civitavecchia on our cruise, but we have been to Rome before. Therefor we were looking for something else to do. Terme Taurine was our choice. It is so easy and cheap to get there on the local orange bus. Buy your return ticket at the kiosk and check with the bus driver when the next bus will come around. The side was so quite and we were the only visitors at the time. It is nothing like Rome, but if you like to imagine how people have lived and bathed go there. Oh don't forget to take some water, as it gets pretty hot there.

We visited in August 2015 and to get there we took a local bus line b from the railway station in cittavechia. Be careful the bus only travels at certain times, we caught the bus at approx 10 30 and it took about 1/2 hr to reach Le Terme. The bus returns in an hours time so be mindful of the time you have to look around if you travel by bus. Buy tickets for the bus from the kiosk by the station, only 1 Euro return!
The ruins are very good and we had an English speaking guide who explained everything about them, whilst we were there only 1 other group was present. We spent the hour exploring and good value for only 5 Euros.

This site is amazing. It's well preserved, well maintained and there is a lot to see. There were only a few people visiting when we were there so it was like we had it to ourselves.
It's close to the cruise ship terminal so it's a good thing to do if you are looking for something pre or post cruise. There is a shuttle bus in the center of town that will take you close to the ruins and then it's a short walk..
Definitely worth a visit.

We took the bus from train station - cheap and interesting if you want to see where the locals live. Don't know taxi prices but it is probably 15-20 minutes from the port
