Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

At nighttime, this medieval alley street (part of the Ferrara's historic Jewish Ghetto) transforms from a quiet sidestreet with plenty of old arches (thus, the name) to a magical doorway back to another era. The streetlamps glow and, barring the lack of authentic raw sewage or rotting animal carcases, you could be in the Middle Ages. Most of the old town of Ferrara has been power-washed, steam cleaned and made pretty (which I still enjoyed)... not Via delle Volte; I felt as if I could still sense the thousands of difficult lives who lived in this claustrophobic neighborhood. It was one of my favorite experiences in a recent trip to Italy.

This area probably gives a greater insight to life in old Ferrara than many of the more glamorous areas. It is very worthwhile taking a slow walk through to absorb the atmosphere and to think back in time and what this area may have seen.

We might have missed something, but it's a medieval road of which there are plenty all over Europe. It leads to the railway station though.

We cycled up (and down) this street - our bikes mostly managed on the cobbles! Owing to the town's excellent limitations on car traffic we could admire the street in all its calm beauty. Rosetti, Ferrara's great architect and town planner really understood the importance of creating a pleasing (and uplifting) street environment and townscape for the people to enjoy. The buildings, their arrangement, with trees and green spaces peeping through at intervals combine to make the street totally 'easy on the eye'. Modern day architects and town planners could learn a lot from Rosetti's principles.

It's like to jump in the Medioeval Time thank's to the Onces that charactherized this road. It's one of the Most Ancient Medioeval road in Europe. Warmly Suggested for Art and Architecture Lovers.

Assolutamente da vedere grazie alle sue volte Medioevali che la caratterizzano: è come fare un salto nel passato.

Assolutamente da vedere per chi ama non solo l'arte ma anche l'architettura tipico del medioevo.

If you're in Ferrara you can't miss this tiny street. This is one of the most beautiful parts of this town. This street was there ten centuries ago and it still is untouched. Walking the original pavement under the arches built of red brick you can feel the atmosphere of old times. Bicycles and small restaurants make it even more beautiful.

Walking back from the Palazzina Marfisa D'Este we chose to avoid the (somewhat noisy) main street and instead came back via the back streets boardering the other side of the University buildings.
This lead us to the delightful Via delle Volte - which is surprisingly quiet and charming.

This is a wonderfully evocative street - we felt we were back in the 13th Century. And no traffic... Magic.
