Let's taste Puglia together? I'm Andrea and I live in Lecce, the city where I was born. I have been working in the restaurant business since 2007, but I grew up in the family bar, which we still own today. After several experiences abroad, in a 5 * L Hotel, I work at a wine shop in Lecce and organize wine tours and tasting for wine lovers. We enjoyed our wine tour with Andrea and Puglia Wine Tour so much. We had a chance to see and enjoy small wineries that were different but both fantastic. The wines were wonderful and the winery hosts were so welcoming. Andrea is very knowledgeable about Puglia wines!

In early October 2019 we had the privilege of spending 5-6 hours with Andrea, Puglia Wine Tasting. Our party of 4 (a driver, Andrea, my husband and me) headed out about 10 AM and returned to Palazzo Belsanti where we were staying around 3-4 PM. As we drove to the first winery, Andrea talked about the history of the area in relation to wine production, the commitment to using ONLY local grapes and about some of the many of varietals grown in the area, most of which we hadn't heard of before. First stop was Apollonio Wine Company where Diletta was our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. This winery, located in the Lecce/Salento area, was established in 1870 and is now 4th generation owned. Here we tasted a number of vintages of red, white and rose wines with most produced from primitivo and negroamaro grapes. We toured the lower level and learned how the wine used to be made and then worked our way upwards through the building to the current working and holding areas. The entire experience was wonderful: filled with great information, wonderful tastings and much laughter. We actually brought a couple of bottles back to Canada: one a Rose that has been aged in Acacia barrels for 12 months and then another 6 months in the bottle; something we hadn't heard of before! Delicious! Then we headed to the second winery, Tenute Rubino, located in the Brindisi area. TR is a family-owed operation in a modern setting. The tasting here was conducted by Anna, again very knowledgeable and informative. The wines were wonderful and, after we left the winery itself, we attended Tenute Rubino's Brindisi harbour-front restaurant for a gourmet luncheon paired with their wines. Unfortunately our suitcases couldn't accommodate more wine but again, they were excellent! This day was my birthday gift to my husband (it was actually his birthday that day) and he tells everyone it was the best day and experience of our 3 week Italian holiday. We would highly recommend using Andrea/Puglia Wine Tour if you are in the area.

I booked this wine tasting excursion for my mother in law for her 50th birthday, she went with my father in law. They had an amazing time they even come back with a box of wine they purchased ! Andrea was so welcoming and made her birthday one to remember! Would definitely recommend to book this tour. Andrea has been amazing from the moment i booked the tour, keeping me updated and giving all the information needed and more when I asked! Truly a lovely experience

My girlfriend and I had an absolutely fantastic time with Andrea on the wine tour. It was one of the highlights of our holiday in Puglia. We were treated to 2 completely different but equally fascinating and beautiful masserias. After a brief tour and history of the masseria we tried some delicious and very special white, rosé and red wines. Andrea had a real depth of knowledge and clear passion for all wine and how it complements the food with which it should be eaten. At the second masseria, we ate a sumptuous lunch in a private room with perfect wine pairings and had lots of fun laughing and joking with Andrea and Roberta (who showed us around).
We would recommend this experience to anybody - it doesn’t matter what you know or don’t know about wine (we are in no way experts!), as long as you enjoy drinking wine! Andrea perfectly tailors the tour to your wishes, knowledge and expertise.
Thank you again Andrea (and of course, Claudio!) - we hope to see you again soon!

Andrea led us to two completely different vineyards near Lecce. He explained a lot about the native grapes of Puglia and we tried a red, white and rose - along with a delicious local lunch. We also got to see some secret art housed at the winery — as it’s secret, you’ll have to take the tour to find out where!

Andrea is the most helpful and kind person we have met in Puglia. Last year we went to Puglia on a wine tour to find new wines for our portfolio. Before we went, we contacted Andrea and he was a great help for us. He both provided names and contacts for appropriate companies and he also offered to make the appointments for us. At our stay Andrea also participated in one of our meetings and acted as translator.
Andrea has a huge knowledge of Puglia wines and the local producers, that we have benefited a lot from.
Furthermore he and his wife have an awesome Bed & Breakfast in Lecce with magnificent view of the town.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews but on this occasion it is justified. I booked the wine tour about four weeks or so before our visit because we had another operator cancel on us but they gave us plenty of notice. The week before we traveled I tried to contact the tour operator via message on two separate occasions and had no reply. On our arrival in Lecce, the day before the tour, I rang the tour operator to check where we would be picked up. On the second attempt the call was answered and as soon as I announced who I was and why I was calling they hung up! They then messaged to say the tour had not been confirmed but the payment however had been taken. Then I received another message saying the tour had been cancelled so there would be no more misunderstandings!! How can you cancel if it wasn’t confirmed?? We did get a refund from TripAdvisor but were left very disappointed. Very unprofessional.

Andrea greeted us at the door of the lovely B&B he manages with his wife. We went up to the rooftop for our wine tasting class - what a beautiful vista with a nearly full moon overlooking the gold-lit city.
The class began with a description of the centuries old history of wine in Puglia and its still stellar place in the production of European wines.
With his training as a sommelier, Andrea was able to provide us with tips to more fully appreciate a glass of vino - noting the wine’s appearance in a glass, the color, different scents, and how/when to take the first sips.
We tried a white, a rosato and two reds. All were excellent and we explored the reasons why we liked each of them. Each wine was accompanied by the proper cheese and meats along with an explanation of why they were the most appropriate choices.
Andrea is serious about his teaching without being overbearing or pompous. His easy style included a casual sense of humor and was educational but also realistic. It was a pleasure to spend the evening with him. We learned more about wines in general and, specifically, about the impressively lovely wines of Puglia. We would definitely recommend this class.

We spent an evening with Andrea tasting a white, rosato and red that he selected only after discussing our preferences and “getting a sense of our palate.” He paired each with creamy, sharp, and salty foods to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of each combination and making the indelible point that wine enjoyed by itself is wonderful and wines with foods should hopefully compliment each other. He discussed the mechanics of technical tasting and instructed us, in a comprehensive way, to observe, smell and taste in an organized manner.
He has a gift for teaching and a gentle joviality that made the time fly by but still feel concentrated with information and insight. The wines were each very enjoyable. He chose from our price range and to reflect varietals we had not yet experienced in Puglia . A real pleasure.

On a recent trip to Lecce I wanted a wine tasting experience which fitted into our day. Andrea's session is very convenient, running from 17:00 - 19:00, and located on the lovely rooftop terrace of his Palazzo Belsanti B&B, close to the centre of Lecce, with views across the city.
We tasted three wines, accompanied by cheeses and meats, and Andrea was very helpful and knowledgeable, it was fun, and we learnt much from the session regarding Puglia wines.
I would definitely recommend this activity to anyone wanting to learn more about the Puglia regional wines.
