Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had to pay 8€ for a ticket just to go to the first floor. Empty rooms and little information. There's no access to the walls of the castle and to see the Carta Pasta museum, we need to pay extra 4€. Not worth a visit.

The free area in the ground floor is quite interesting, but not much to look at. We asked about paying, to discover that access to the first floor leads to empty rooms. The advertisement outside suggested various other things and activities, such as papier-mâché museum - we asked about this and apparently the office for that was somewhere around the corner… not at all sure if the other things advertised actually exist at present.

The castle is beautiful, not everything is visiting because it is under renovation but it is worth it. The history of the castle is really interesting, the Guide who showed me to juggle English and Italian because I was not alone and she did well.
If you're a history buff, take a look around

Lecce is a lovely place. Nits not very big so you can easily walk around and don’t need a car. There are loads of churches and you can buy a ticket that gives you access into some and the museum next to the Duomo which was excellent. The architecture is really good and the whole place is very clean and tidy. Lots of nice restaurants, bars and shops too.

The guided tour will take you to the medieval parts of the castle and to the old prisons with very good explanations about the evolution of the castle.
Visit of about one hour in total.

Our Guide Donatella was exceptional. Switching from Italian to English with ease and with a very interesting and nice explanation.
The Kind of Guide We Love Having!
Thanks to her!

Paid 16 euro for 2 people for the tour.
The tour was totally in Italian and we were given a translation to download in English on our phone
It stopped working several times and had to be reloaded.
It didn't matter anyway as all the rooms were empty.
Just bare walls to see
No bathroom facilties available in the tour office
When asked for directions during the tour to a bathroom in the tourist office
we were directed outside to the street bathrooms some distance away as told the castle bathrooms were closed to tourists as they were in use for a private event in the castle only.

Not really good enough

When hesitating to enter, the man at the ticket counter pointed us to a map at the entrance saying that it showed all the parts of the castle that could be visited. We payed 10euros each to discover that this was a lie and that most of the areas are closed... After 10min of visiting some empty rooms, we had seen what as open for visitors. When confronting the man at the counter he told us that indeed there were only a few spaces that could be visited. He denied that he told us to look at the map showing "everything there is to see" earlier.
The visit is a total rip off. Do not spend your money here!

The rooms the visitor can see are very limited for the fare paid. Just a small section of the yard and four or five empty rooms that houses some contemporary excibitions. I expected more for the fare paid. Disappointment

I paid 10 euros to visit what I thought may be an interesting castle and some art exhibitions. Complete waste of money. Little to look at in the castle - and being English I'm happy to look round ruins of castles! - didn't really enjoy the art exhibitions either. Save your money!

Now I'm all for a good castle but this was pretty underwhelming. There were lots of cream walls and windows.. And that was about it. A couple of info boards and at least the ground level was free. Use it as a cut through to get back to your car and you'll have done it!
