I led a retreat for a week at Minuvida and this venue is amazing! Rimi and Joao are the kindest and most knowledgeable hosts on each of the excursions they take us on. The food they provide us with is amazing and their restaurant recommendations are perfect. It's such a peaceful place to be, we love the animals on the property. Definitely stay at Quinta Minuvida for your next trip to Sao Miguel!!

Such an amazing hike with great guides. My friend & I had the best time on this tour. Rimi & Joao are so friendly and so knowledgeable. We really learned a lot about the Azores, the island of Sao Miguel, the plant & animal life on the island, etc. They put food into the ground to be cooked by the volcanic stream, then we started our hike. The hike is about 3 hours - but in the middle you stop and get to swim in a beautiful waterfall. Post hike we got to sit in the hot springs for a little while our guides set up dinner. We got to watch the food being pulled from the ground then they brought us to a table where we had wine, fresh salad with ingredients from their garden and of course the amazing stew that just came out of the ground. It was delicious and there was tons and tons of food. I highly recommend this hike for anyone looking for good company, great food and some amazing insights into nature around you.

A beautiful 'quinta' laden with fruit trees, a beautiful pool and a short walk to the ocean.
The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. The yoga practice space is bright and comfortable.
The food that Rimi and Joåo prepare is delicious, nutritious and local. Highly recommend this place as you explore this stunning island.

Rimi and Joao organized a very memorable experience with a beautiful afternoon hike that ended with a delicious cozido dinner. They were very knowledgeable about the region, the flora and fauna and the geography of the Azores. The hike passed a waterfall where we stopped for a quick swim and we ended with a delicious dinner of cozido (meat stew cooked inside a volcano for several hours) and wine in a beautiful outdoor setting. Rimi also provided very helpful recommendations and tips for Sao Miguel. Highly recommended.

We recently did a hike with Joao and Rimi and had the most incredible time! One of our highlights on the island for sure!!! The best part? Rimi and Joao! Incredible, kind, knowledgeable, passionate and super friendly. The hike was at a good pace and we learned so much about the island. Tasted a few native plants, swam at the base of a waterfall, and overall had one of our best nights of our trip! We had the Cozido (Azorean stew) cooking in the lava vent while we hiked and were happy to dive in to the delicious meal when we were done! Rimi and Joao even accommodated one of the fellow hikers who doesn't eat meat and wanted to ensure that she had something special. We also had the incredible opportunity to see their home, we wish we could have stayed there as the energy and grounds are healing. Book with them, you will NOT regret it!

Excellent hike with João! He is incredibly knowledgeable on the flora and almost anything you might want to know about the Azores.

The hike itself was also very pleasant and he was careful to help us choose one that suited our level.

We had a group of 10 hikers, and arranged with Rimi and Joao to lead a hike for us. We learned so much about the Azores, about plants, birds and animals, formation of the islands, and more. Joao, having spent much of his childhood on the island, is a wealth of knowledge. And Rimi is a great source for other things to do on the island...you can tell both Rimi and Joao love the Azores.
Our hike was amazing...lots of different scenery, great pace. We had an amazing picnic lunch provided by Minivuda...two yummy salads and a vegetable-type lasagne dish...way more than what I was expecting (sandwiches).
Our hike ended with a downpour, followed by a coffee or beer at a small local place. Great day, highly, highly recommend Rimi, Joao and, of course, Moo the dog!

My husband and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Europe and one of the very best things we did was the hike and yoga with Joao and Rimi on Sao Miguel. We learned so much about the island as we hiked, and their passion for the place they live was contagious! The lunch they provided was amazing--made with all local ingredients. We were treated to a wonderful yoga experience on the beach at the end of the day to stretch out all those tired muscles. We HIGHLY recommend this experience or any other led by this warm and knowledgeable couple. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to come back some day!

I booked an afternoon hike & wine tasting with Minuvida after seeing a good report on one of the Azores forums. Rimi was very responsive with email and accommodating of our request. She even provided some great downloadable guides in advance of nice hiking trails, favorite beaches, restaurants, etc. prior to our arrival. We met Rimi and Joao at the designated time and place, and enjoyed a great afternoon with them, and learned so much about the islands. At the end of the hike, they provided a very enjoyable wine tasting with local cheeses, meats & chocolate. I highly recommend them and will absolutely contact them again when we next visit Sao Miguel.
