Parco Zoo Punta Verde is a privately run zoo and consequently receives no public funds. Its revenue is derived solely from its entrance fees.

Parco Zoo Punta Verde’s mission is founded on four key points:

Education of the public to raise awareness and sensitivity about animals and the environment, with targeted educational programs aimed at the general public and schools of all types and levels.

Conservation of endangered species through in situ and ex situ programmes. The zoo’s visitors are active participants in its awareness and fundraising campaigns that allow endangered species to be protected in their natural habitats while offering the local populations opportunities for sustainable development.

Research via partnerships with organizations such as universities, museums and scientific institutions in general.

And last, but not least, the excitement of a day out for adults and children alike, in a pleasant setting that brings them into contact with nature, thus helping to respect it.

Visiting a modern zoo means ensuring a future for nature, thanks to all the ventures aimed at preserving its delicate balance.

Parco Zoo Punta Verde covers an area of 100,000 square metres in a loop of the Tagliamento river, in the north-western part of the Lignano peninsula, and is home to over 1,000 animals of around 200 species of mammals, birds and reptiles.

The zoo is open from March to November; opening hours can be found on the official website

We spent hours there and we all loved it. It's reachable from Lignano Sabiadoro by bike, there are nice cyclist roads and it's nice bike trip and well spent time with kids.

Nice little zoo to spend a morning (afternoons are way to hot and animals are all sleeping in the shade). Great variety of animals and very easy to follow the signs to ensure you see everything. As usual with any zoo, you feel for the animals as they deserve larger pens (especially the big cats and hippos in this case).... More

The zoo is not so big, but rather attractive - especially for the one located at a small seaside town. They have different birds (incl. pink flamingos and parrots), lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes, lynx, leopards, cougars, walruses, bears, monkeys, lemurs, gophers, snakes, turtles, different cloven-footed beasts, and others... Some small cloven-footed beasts are officially allowed to be fed by the... More

This is a great place to visit and to explore. It will take you about 3 hours too see it through, as you walk and adventure yourself through the self guided tour. It is very complete, and even has secific information on the animal's life expectancy, life cycles, food, predators and common locations worldwide. It also has animals from different... More

The place is pretty easy to find, for 2 adults and one 2 year old we payed entry fee 26 € (13€ per person). The main ''attraction'' are tigers and lions who offer a great view. For us it was a whole day visit and it was a quiet walk among the animals. The zoo is very animal friendly, the... More
