Fascinating tour of spectacular caves
Oct 2018
The caves are open by appointment only from October - we were really lucky to arrive at a time a tour was about to begin. You have to park on the side of the road and walk to the caves entrance. There is no car park. The guide was interesting and well informed and the caves were spectacular. 50 m deep - full of stalactites and stalagmites. Definitely worth visiting. The guide also told us about some other local places of interest, which was really useful.

Small cave but a lot to see

Only a €5 entry charge but you get the benefit of a very knowledgeable guide included, some of the stalagmite & stalactite formations are awesome.

Wonderful attraction but with limited parking
Sep 2018 • Couples
Very easy to miss as the access although sign posted is literally a step off the SS18 . Luckily there is a joining road intersection with a small patch of parking next to it. Once you get pried it’s €5 per person very well spent although it’s a small tour he guide has excellent English and talks in-depth about the various features and the way they are formed . Around 30 minutes is what you should set aside for an excellent and informative local attraction

Fascinating caves and excellent tour
Sep 2016 • Couples
I couldn't believe how cheap it was to get such a comprehensive tour of the caves by an expert in fluent English. The caves aren't enormous but are certainly fascinating when you learn all about the formation of the cave and the history that lies behind it.

There isn't any dedicated parking, but when we phoned to book our visit, the guy explained where it was and where to park and we had absolutely no problem at all.

If you want to visit the grotto, go to the tourist office. There is one in the town hall in the town center and also one in the port. Both were extremely helpful.

We phoned the number given to us and the guy at the grotto explained when it would be open and closed. Basically, it seems that he opens it when people are likely to come but definitely call him before going. He had something planned for the afternoon so we left immediately after speaking to him. Very nice guy.
