Nice stop for a tour and tasting

Quick self-tour through their wine cellars - amazing! Tasted 3 wines and bought a couple bottles to drink while we're here. Nice visit if you're in the area and have some time.

Definitely stop in to Contucci! Great wine and great place to explore. Wine is reasonably priced to buy and ship to the US.

Very interesting old winery. Take a stop in and look around. We didn't have enough time to do a wine tasting, but there were several people talking with the winemaker.

Returned to Cantina Contucci after three years, determined to again taste their fine wines and arrange to ship the best home. Couldn't have been more pleased with our visit. Simple and short tour of the winery supplanted by a wonderful discussion with the shop staff on the history of the Contucci family, their 40 generation wine history, and the ultimate... More

Friendly staff...excellent English. Very good wines for the money. Shipping does increase the cost but you can still get a case of reserve wine delivered to the US for about $35 a bottle. Non-reserves would be less. Thats a good deal.

We really enjoyed our visit to Contucci Canine in Montepulciano. As we approached the Piazza at the top of the town, we passed by this winery, and it is the perfect stop to take a peek into the history that surrounds you here; allows you to tour through the underground tunnels and rooms that hold many of the precious wines... The wine tasting is generous, the staff speaks English well, but the star of the show is when Adamo walks in. Contucci Wines have been here since the early 1500's in the same cellars. Adamo has been here since 1953 and he likes to tell you about the wines and show you around the cellar using his language and hand... More

We stopped in here while strolling around town. Took a self guided tour of the cellars, then had some generous pours to taste. The winemaker came in to say hi while we were there. He is a very enthusiastic fellow, so proud to have made it in Rick Steve's book. We got a photo, autograph, handshake and hug. Looking forward... More

Under the city are caves filled with huge wine kegs! This is a site not to be missed! Montepulciano is famous for it's Vino Nobile created mainly from the sangiovese grapes, grown in the area. Then it is aged for a minimum of two years in large oak barrels. We were amazed at these old passage ways under the city.

We came to this winery at the end of August 2016, on the advice of Rick Steves in his Italy travel guide book. The hostess let us explore the wine cellar in the basement, which took us about 15 mins and then we came back for wine tasting - which is free. We tasted 3 red wines and were told... More
