Not a bad "walk" around the base of the city. Unfortunately the city seems to have ignored it as a tourist spot. Not well keep and scattered trash in many spots...especially where kids throw paper airplanes off of the Rocca. About 5k and up and down in spots0. North side really damp and unkept, south side sunny and warm in... More

Myself and a friend took the hike around the Orvieto Rock and saw some interesting sights. However, this hike is not for the those that are not strong hikers. There were many ups and downs and the grades were steep. We had to take a few breaks to catch our breath. However you do get some great views and see... More

Not too scenic and it could use a little better trail marking in a couple of spaots but a pleasant walk that had me puffing on some of the hills.

A walk around the cliffs of Orvieto. A unique experience with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. We were pretty much the only people walking it on a lovely spring day. From this walk you can access the Etruscan necropolis and you can also enter the town at various points. It is not wheelchair accessible but otherwise it is a... More

If Orvieto itself is not "getaway" enough for you, take a walk down this beautiful trail that encircles the town along the base of the tufa rock. It's an up and down walk in the lush greenery down below the town. Not known for its views but does offer a view of the city from a perspective not seen by... More

The guide book said relatively level. The guide book lied. It is a lot of up and down. Th trail is paved. Just wasn't prpared for it tk be so strenuous. Well worth it though if you have the time.

My wife and I took this walk for a little exercise with scenery. The views were not as good as those at the top of the cliff and the pathway was rather boring. The only interesting part was the view of the Cliffside and the engineering fixes to shore it up. There is quite a bit of up and down... More

Walkig around the base of Orvieto's hill makes for a nice walk, but the signage is poor. We ended up doubling back a few times when the signs indicated two different directions to take and one of them was a dead end. Also, several of the advertised sites were closed, so the walk wasn't particularly interesting from a historical view.

Following the purple line on the map for the entry points, you can discover the outskirts of the town and feast on the magnificent country side views. We Took over an hour to walk a section of it leisurely including the Etruscan Tombs (small entry fee) which was along the way. It is quite cool alongside the rock in parts,... More

We went down the elevator at the Campo della Fiera parking lot and walked counter-clockwise on the Rupe around town, going back up near the funicular. The walk varied from steep to flat, shaded to sunny. We love nature walking and history, so this was our favorite thing to do in Orvieto. The views were beautiful! The bugs ate me... More
