This beach is up in the ild part of Portoferraio and close to Napoleon's dwelling so kill two birds with one stone. The sunset creates a beautiful array of colors when you are at the top looking down at the beach (which has a resto). It is a downhill path to the beack but is gorgeous (rocky beach).

While the Ghiaie is the marine living room of Portoferraio, the Vista is the study. Mixed beach of rocks, stones and coarse sand, can be reached on foot after a short but steep descent. It is a beach for amateurs: excellent for reading a book in the morning and in the evening thanks to the large shaded areas, perfect for snorkelling (and once for fishing, but now it is in an absolutely protected area), equipped with a restaurant of good standard, fascinating with sea storms. For me it is a historic beach because I have been frequenting it for 50 years now and I have seen its evolution. For the newcomer there are two possibilities: either you love it or you can't stand it.

Beach of two coves, the first which is found as soon as you descend on foot is mixed with rocks and sand and is completely free, while the second cove is completely sandy both beach and entrance into the sea which is wonderful from both but in the second cove It is also a bathing establishment for those who want umbrellas and sunbeds, however I repeat that the sea is very beautiful from both, the climb up to reach the car is a bit tiring but nothing prohibitive is possible

The beach is spectacular but a ferry goes too close! Get away from the shore because it takes everything away with the waves more or less at 16.gli islanders know and maybe a sign or a less invasive route would not make a memory economically and emotionally bad.

On a postcard everything is beautiful, but in real life it's something else. Arrive from Portoferraio on foot, walking shoes up stairs and then a long descent down and back. Doable, but it depends on what you find. And the beach is not worth the effort. The water that many praise is like everywhere else, clean when it is clean, but also very dirty on other days and Elba is full of clean water. The beautiful part of the beach is what is above, that is, the villas, the Napoleonic buildings and the view, but once you go down and face the sea everything disappears and you find yourself on a beach with a mixed bottom, sand, grit, pebbles, dry seaweed, large stones in the water and half the beach in the shade due to the ridge behind it. The only refreshment is a very expensive and not even nice restaurant. Only the low attendance is an advantage, but you can also understand the reason... and the people of Elba themselves turn up their noses. With everything beautiful the island offers, it really is the last place to go for a swim.
