This beautiful church stands in the heart of the town so it begs to be explored. It is an appealing interlude from riding the twisting roads and walking steep streets. It is brighetre and more cheery than many churches in the area. Worth a visit.

Beautiful old church in the heart of Positano. You can see it from most places in Positano. The inside is similar to most other churches along the coast.

Visible from throughout town, the church has a beautiful tiled domed roof. Over the altar is a Byzantine Black Madona and Child from the 13th century.

This church, located close to the Grande Beach in Positano, plays an important part in the town's cultural, religious and architectural landscape. The colourful majolica tiled dome, together with the 18th century bell-tower, is one of Positano's iconic symbols. The church was founded in the 10th century as a Benedictine Abbey. However, in the 12th century when a Byzantine icon... More

We had a wedding here on the 1st September 2016. The church is simple, traditional yet beautiful and quaint. To find a church as big as this in such a small town is simply wonderful. The wedding was magical and being able to celebrate an occasion such as this was truly breathtaking. The priest did not allow strangers in the... More

Nice little parrocchia in a gorgeous town. Not the finest I have ever seen but it's still a nice addition to the visit.

The dome of Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta is very picturesque, being covered with colorful majolica tiles. It certainly stands out when Positano is viewed from the Amalfi Coast road. However I did not go inside the church, so I cannot comment on that.

To find a church of this size and grandeur in a small coastal town is extraordinary...it has a beautiful interior with lots of eye-catching architecturally interesting inclusions. You'll invaribly end up walking by it so take a moment to cool off inside.

This was fine - nothing to write home about. Very central so it's impossible to not pass by it and get a glimpse when you're wandering through town. Nice plaza area out front that's fun to hangout in at night. Inside the church itself it's pretty standard, and very modest relative to most churches in larger cities in Europe.
