Attractive exterior
Sep 2019
If you walk down the Piazza Duomo, this Neo-Classical building is on your left. It was once a gentleman's club but has been restored with a room for ladies now. When we were there it wasn't open to visit but you can go round if it is open.

Lovely exterior
Dec 2019
This smallish building is on the main Piazza in Ragusa and has a lovely exterior. While taking a well deserved rest (and while enjoying some gelato) we admired the details on this building. Unable to enter but we could still enjoy it.

Calm Club
Oct 2019
Built in 1850 as a Gentlemen's Club, perhaps as an oasis and for erudite discussion, however a room has nowadays been converted for use by the ladies. A glimpse of times gone by when who knows what was discussed between these walls,. A pretty building, beautifully decorated inside and well worth the visit.

Excellent tour of 3 sights linked by a 3 hedgehogs
Oct 2019
Damiano the guide was full of infectious enthusiasm for this wonderful club, and the associated theatre, and garden. A real surprise and a must for afficionados of Di Lampedusa’s “The Leopard”. Cant recommend this tour too highly. Grazie tante mille.
PS Check out the family coat of arms for the hedgehogs.

Loved this wonderful facade with fluted pilasters
May 2019
Charming neoclassic survival, its facade with fluted Doric pilasters is the spot where the local gentry met. These people were addicted to the corbelled balconies on which the local masons lavished so attentive attention.

A gem tucked away in the town
Sep 2018 • Friends
We were amazed by this place - small but yet grand. An old fashioned gentleman's club that had been (eventually) brought up to date - the old billiard room was turned into a tea room for the ladies to have a natter although they did rescue the billiard table and re-site it out the back.

The theatre across the way was awesome; it must be wonderful to see a proper production there.

Then we went into the garden and a tiny one roomed museum of clothes and bits and bobs. If you get the chance to visit, take it.

As in the ol'days....

Was in Ibla a few years back and the Circolo was full of "compari" having a chat, smoking and gossiping as a century ago; today....not the same but worth the visit.

Provides a taste and insight into how the privileged landowning gentlemen classes of Sicily once lived
Dec 2016 • Family
Beautiful external architecture. We were unable to go in but the elegance and rich detail of the facade provided a good feel for the lifestyle of Sicilian upper classes once upon a time.
