Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stromboli - An intriguing island. You are delivered to the green side and could almost wonder where the volcano is -did I see a little glow of red up at the top in the undergrowth? The small town is quite interesting but mostly given over to routes to the top but there are some interesting buildings and alleyways. The black beach of volcanic sand with its coloured boats is just waiting to be photographed. When the boat takes you round the back, everything changes. This is a volcano with screes running from the peak down into the sea and flashes of light coming from the crater at the top. As darkness descends it becomes more dramatics with mini-eruptions every ten minutes or so. It’s not always like this - there can be violent eruptions, hence the screes. But not when we visited. The boat trip back to Vulcano where we were staying was a two hour drag in the cold but, hey, this was a real live working volcano. Strombolicchio - The boat took us on a little side excursion to the Stromboli trip to use up some time before dusk fell and we repaired to see the volcano doing little eruptions every ten minutes or so. You can’t set foot on the rock (it would be extremely hazardous; just look at the photos) but it was a little delight to see and, of course, to photograph from every angle

I went to this tiny island with my cousins, auntie and uncle as they live in Sicily and rented out a boat. It was a great, sunny day and I went snorkeling by this island. There is quite a gassy smell here, and there are geysers in the water spouting gas! I swam on one and I loved it (even though the water was freezing and smelly) There are even ice cream boates here where you can get an ice cream at sea! Beautiful.

Strombolicchio makes for great photo-ops from Stromboli as well as the approach via boat. We missed the sunset due to clouds on this visit but I imagine it is beautiful on a clear day

This is a lovely little island but of course you can't actually get to it, so it has to be viewed from Stromboli island and from the cruise boats which take you there. Nice photo opportunity.

Imposing stacks placed in front of the village of Stromboli San Vincenzo, we came close with the dinghy and we bathed in the spectacular water. Legend has it that it is the summit of the volcano expelled following an eruption. Note the rocks in the shape of a horse head, devil and heart.

Small volcanic island in front of the island of Stromboli from which it takes its name, an islet with a dizzying staircase to reach the lighthouse. From the boat you can see a rock in the shape of a horse's head.
