    Breath taking views.
Visited for a day trip when we stayed in Amantea. About 1 hr drive. Breathtaking views, though the beach is not sandy but rocky. Very busy tourist area with prices to match. Happy we had the chance to visit.

    Give it a full day
Tropea Beach was my one regret from our Italy trip. Not that we went - that I didn't give us enough time there. I'm used to American beaches, which typically deserve as little time as possible and make for a miserable day. Not Tropea. Perfect weather, no boomboxes, no misbehaving kids, a couple of topless women, a view that can't be beat, crystal clear waters, and scores of fish that swim around your ankles (and occasionally take a little nibble). I wish I'd had an entire day to camp out there with my book and some snacks. This is what beaches are supposed to be.

Famous for red onions and fish
Tropea Beach is quite fascinating. It's on the coast of Calabria, where delicious red onions are grown, which are unique. The red onions can be consumed, made with vegetable broth and pasta. The restaurant is popular for serving red onions, in an osteria-style Italian restaurant. Calabria is the toe of Italy, in the Peninsula's southwest, adjacent to Sicily. Sicily is the Mediterranean's island Tropea is famous for fish and red onions.

Beautiful sandy beach’s and clear blue sea and views.
Excellent braces in Tropea. You can either access via steps from the town on the cliff or via road. Reasonable amount of cheap parking available for a few nice beach side testaurants. Clean beach with chairs and umbrellas available. Easy access with no steps from the car park in most areas. Definitely worth a visit. Would recommend the town and the beaches.

    Beautiful Tropea!
Tropea, a charming, pretty town with beautiful beaches and clear, azure waters. The town has a ton of character, a good variety of nice, fairly reasonable restaurants and shops. We planned to stay 4 nights but stayed 7. Love, love, love Tropea!

    Stunning beach
Gorgeous beach, crystal clear water. An absolute joy to swim in ! There are chair & umbrellas at cost but well worth it. Kiosk nearby and a public area to park it if you like .

Wonderful town known mostly to Italian tourists
This was our third trip to Italy with a plan to drive south of Naples, Amalfi peninsula, to the ferry for Sicily. It was recommended by an agritourism owner to drive this southern peninsula. This town was an incredible surprise nestled directly on top of cliffs. The walking streets were wonderful with shops, restaurants, bars. People friendly. Apparently this is a "go to" southern Italy resort town frequented by Italians. We were probably the only Americans there. The beach was wonderful. If you are driving south this is truly a great place to stop for a day or two.

Wow. Just wow. What a beach.
The title says it all. A serious beach goer beach 😊. Bring your towel. Bring your beverage of choice sit back and relax. The beach was jammed with people. Locals and tourists. The sand was fine and clean. Walk 5 minutes and you’ll get to a rock beach if you prefer. Just awesome.

The main Tropea beach offers two undeniable assets. First of them is a wonderful view of the city and its specific little church on the rock called Santa Maria dell’Isola. In fact, the whole coastline is tremendous. The other asset is a shadow caused by the rocky hill right above you. On the other hand the beach can be quite crowded (especially during the weekends) and count with the paid parking in case you are coming by car. If you don't mind walking, you can definitely find a non-paid parking place somewhere nearby or in Tropea. Just be careful - when you park by the blue line, you need to pay. There is also a small bistro with coffee and snacks. For a less crowded beach (not applicable for the weekends) head for Spiaggia della Contura just behind the Tropea port. Or in case you can travel by car or train you can visit Michelino beach in Parghelia or a very long one in Marina di Zambrone.

Driving throughout Italy found this by chance. Compared to other places like Sorrento it is calm and inviting and a little less hype. Beaches are beautiful and the time itself is very quaint. Lots of families!

A quaint town overlooking beautiful beaches. Best visited early in the morning or later in the evening as it is scorching hot during the day. I was afraid of not being able to find parking but visited yesterday and there were ample parking spaces available along the lungomare. To visit if in Calabria, especially if one loves the sea.

Tropea is the jewel of the Calabrian coast, and its easy to see why - the beach is one of the best we've seen in Europe. It's free to access and spotlessly clean. The water is clear, refreshing and the temperature was perfect for swimmin in September when we visited. The views of the glittering blue water, Stromboli in the far distance and views of the sanctuary and old town make it all very atmospheric. I'm not really a beach person (my wife is), but we spent hours swimming and lounging on the beach over our two days in Tropea, and time just seemed to stand still. An absolute knockout!

The beach is not a really big but it's pretty well organized. There is a bathing establishment where you can rent a beach umbrella and sunbeds and also there are bars and restaurants. There is also a free zone where you can settle your own beach umbrella, sunbeds, etc...
The color of the water is crystal and so beautiful . This is one of the best beaches we've visited in Italy.
There is a quite few parking space. If you have an accommodation in the historical center or nearby you have to go up and down the steps to go to the beach. It's a pretty good exercise!
