Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Piazza dei Priori is the main square located in the old town of Volterra, in Tuscany Region, in Italy. It is a wonderful square, where you can see very nice buildings like Palazzo dei Priori (nowadays the town hall) or Palazzo Pretorio. Also, we came here, when Volterra 1398AD fair was done (in the middle of August-2019), and in this place there were a lot of medieval dances with typical clothes of this period. Really, charming! for children and adults!

A small Plaza, not overwhelming or a long walk. A good hub from which to explore the rest of Volterra. Fun shops, Gelato everywhere, and restaurants enough. Had a splendid afternoon there, before moving on to San Gimignano. The Etruscan Museum was interesting, too, and the Roman amphitheater was interesting. Very enjoyable drive to Volterra, and beautiful countryside. Loved it!

This was just overall a sweet town in Tuscany to visit. If you're wandering the area, make sure this is one of your stops.

Breathtaking medieval city on the top of hill above the Tuscans landscape. The castle and city rule the surrounding fields for thousands of years from age of Etruscans to current tourist invasion time. Everybody must see who would spend time Tuscany.

We all loved it here. We went one evening and it is really lovely. Volterra is amazing and just stunning. This Piazza is so historic and lovely and my daughters loved the fact they filmed some of Twilight New Moon here, as was I. I would definitely recommend this lovely place in Tuscany.

A Twilight saga fan fact: In “New Moon”, Edward went to Volterra to seek his death at the hands of the Volturi after he thought that Bella had died.

In the book, the story culminated in Volterra, but the movie scenes were actually filmed in Montepulciano. The piazza and clock tower in both towns are very similar, but Montepulciano is more accessible and could accommodate the entire film crew.

Imagine a fountain in the middle of this Piazza, and hundreds of people dressed in red capes, and you will be transported to the scenes in "New Moon".

Beautiful place to stop between the Tuscan coast and Siena. Definitely worth stooping by for lunch or a drink and see the piazza.

It may not have the grand scale of Siena or Florence, but the smaller piazza in Volterra is very beautiful and enjoyable. It also hosts a terrific Saturday morning marketplace, where you can find fresh fruit and vegetables, freshly cut cured meats, fresh flowers, and a gigantic quantity of leather bags, dresses, linens, and other household goods. The historic civico on the square is also a treasure and there is a convenient tourist office nearby the civico.

The fans of the Twilight saga will surely be familiar with Volterra, as a part of the novel and movie “New Moon” is set there. While in Piazza dei Priori, an amazing Medieval square crowned by a majestic palace, you will feel like you’re Bella Swan, who came to Volterra to rescue her beloved Edward.

The central square of Voltaire is very remarkable and romantic. Surrounded by interesting stone buildings, there are many cafes and restaurants. There were many people during my visit.
