These ruins are nice, I would not make a special trip to Volterra just for this but I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the city. I would suggest looking at it from the viewing point above.

This is a large open area that is not well advertised and most of our group missed it. At first sight it is just a pleasant grassy place where kids can run around or you might have lunch but the slightly hidden attraction is the Etruscan acropolis. Access is limited because of the nature of this important archaeological site but... More

This is really nothing special, there are far more interesting archeological sites in Italy, but it's worth taking a walk through the park without entering the archeological site.

We didn't know about this place when we went to Volterra, was a nice surprise and very well preserved. You can see from above too, from a walkway in Volterra.

Probably PA will be impressive attraction but in ... Sweden :). Where every old stones works like world heritage attraction :). But in Italy? When in every place Y stumble over ancient Antique? For me PA is nothing special compare other places. But If Y are in Voltera for walking - Y can see this part of city with partly... More

This was around the corner and a short walk from our hotel and was lovely especially in the evening light.

Nice city park and in the mid day I went to check out the birds, found a bench and quickly dropped off. Never felt as if someone would take advantage of me. Children play area is also within the park.

Parco archeologico provides an opportunity to take in some great views and relax from exploring Volterra. It has a pretty good children playground, invaluable for a diversion if you travel with a toddler or a primary-schooler. It also serves as an entry point to the etruscan acropolis, which we bypassed.

If you can’t make it round here, then don’t go to Pompeii! The archaeological park is quite small and the entrance charge - which also includes a visit to the amphitheatre on the other side of town - reflects this. You can see the park through the wire fence if you don’t want to spend any money but you will... More

This is spectacular and we hadn't known it was here. A fabulous amphitheatre and circus. It was the opposite side of town from our hotel and we came across it in the evening sunlight. Magic.
