Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very moving experience in this beautiful place. We visited the cemetery after staying in Caen and on our way to Juno Beach. We stayed for 45 minutes. Handsomely located in the countryside and ample parking for buses and cars.

My dad's brother,is buried in this cemetery.I have never been so proud to be a Canadian. He fought with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He was 24 years old and the youngest of four Saskatchewan brothers who volunteered,to go overseas 1939-40 WWII.The French have maintained this hallowed freedom shrine, with meticulous care and respect for the ultimate sacrifice!
It is staggering how many cemeteries there are in this area.Allied & Axis.

The Canadian War Cemetery is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Immaculate, with growing flowers at each gravesite, a quiet place for contemplation. All Americans should know and remember the part played by Canada during the Normandy campaign.

I travelled here almost two decades ago and it was something I will never forget. My ex and I had visited Juno beach and then travelled to the Canadian War Cemetery to pay respect to the fallen. I started walking through the cemetery, row upon row, and initially it was interesting to read the names and places of origin. As I read each name I realized that most of these men were no more than 21 and many were 18, 19 and 20. It was at this point that a wave of emotion built and rolled over me in realizing how much our nation gave to the war effort; so many young men who never got to return and live out their lives and see their families. You can certainly read this history in a book but this visit was something that will always be with me. Incredible. And something that always reminds me that we need to remember.

Being Canadian we had to stop here. Only a short drive from our hotel. Gets overlooked by the American cemetery. On D-Day alone, Canada suffered almost a thousand casualties. The men who fell on the beaches are buried here.

After visiting the wonderful Juno Beach museum, my 15-year old daughter and I stopped for dinner in town. We had planned all along to visit the Beny-sur-Mer cemetery to seek out the grave of David Hazzard, whose touching letters to his wife during the war were published as a series in the Globe and Mail several years ago. I felt I had come to know this letter-writer, and my daughter devoted a history project to David Hazzard. When we arrived the sun was setting and no one was there. I expected to find a directory to lead us to David's grave, but there was none. There are over 2000 gravestones in that cemetery. I took one half and my daughter took the other half. As the time went on and it became darker and darker, there was a calm that fell over that place. The soft breeze, the trees silhouetted against the dim sky, and the feeling that you were entirely alone. We finally found David Hazzard's place in one of the few last remaining rows to be checked. Out of respect, we finished reading the names in the remaining two rows. David Hazzard's grave was situated in such a place that the two of us read the names of every soldier in that cemetery. I noted the Browns (my mother's maiden name), Sweeny, Braden, and I stopped every time I saw a name beginning with H. But, we read each name. Throughout the time, I kept looking back at my daughter, marvelling at how brave she was. It was only as we walked away did she realize that the gravestones were not mere markers, but actual soldiers were buried there! But, we will never forget that time at this beautiful cemetery. Sombre and meaningful. And to make one feel even more Canadian, there is a giant Canadian flag painted on the ground of the parking lot.

A simple and somber memorial to those who give their lives in the Normandy campaign. Very moving and much less visited that the nearby American cemetery and the British cemetery in town.

I brought my children ages ten and fifteen for a tour of Normandy. This was part of tour we took with Mathias LeClere of D-Day Guided Tours. All I can say is we were all affected by this stop. The grounds are impeccably kept and as you walk into the cemetery there are very majestic maple trees at the entrance. The cemetery is in the middle of the country side and you can see the Juno beach ocean from here on a clear day. A must see you will be so glad you made the stop for.

We went to the cemetery to visit an uncle's grave. He was killed 12 days after D-Day while fighting with the Canadian Scottish Regiment. The cemetery is immaculately kept. There are flowering plants on every grave and there isn't a blade of grass out of place. Until a person visits a place like this, he/she has no idea the sacrifice these people made. In looking at the ages, most of the young men buried here were 19 to 24 years old when they died. Over 2000 young men. Thank you to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for making their final resting place so beautiful.

Following our visit to the Juno Beach Centre, my wife and I spent time reflecting as we walked through this cemetery. This is the final resting place for some 2000 Canadian soldiers who gave their lives for us and for the defense of freedom. We are humbled and deeply grateful.

Bonjour ,est il possible de localiser une tombe avec le nom précis d'un soldat et comment s'il vous plaît. Merci
Written 13 May 2019
