I may have caught it at a bad time but when I visited it was sadly lacking in atmosphere, with myself and 1 other customer who was having a coffee I think. Small place, half underground, so you can look up out of the windows at the road outside and watch how terrible some people are at parking cars. A... More

this place has many ticks from CAMERA plus Urqell and Cech Budweiser on pump. Food is simple with 2 main meal offerings. Sandwiches available in a choice of 4 breads all home made. Access is down 6/7 steps.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon. Had a few locals who were friendly. Nice to sit back and listen to the banter. They made us welcome. Good choice of food but limited still home made and worth the price. Yes toilets are visible from bar but only if inconsiderate customer leaves both open. The addition of a door closure would... I popped in here with a few friends after getting a recommendation that it would be my sort of bar and I was not disappointed. The place has awards for real ale and cider all over the walls. It is small and quaint. The sort of place you can sit for hours on your own/with friends and enjoy delicious and... More

On entering from street level this downstairs cellar bar has the feel of one of those small family run English bars you get in Spain, as the white washed walls with their archway entrances with the Guvnor standing in situ behind the small serving area at one end certainly give that feel. But fortunately the aforementioned white walls are covered... More

Ok the beer was well kept, but the gin and tonic glass was filthy. Not sure about the personal hygiene of the staff / clientele either. There was a view from the bar straight into the gents and no one seemed capable of closing the door or washing their hands. Never again. And PS the place is in Hull not... More

Found this lovely little real-ale gem just out of Hull's city centre (literally a couple of minutes walk away). Fantastic choice of beer - not just hand-pulled but in bottles too (I had a marmalade porter - delicious!) Friendly landlord, no frills - just a very honest and well-stocked beer house. Well worth a visit.

We visited this pub, just the once. Although the beer was reasonable, the atmosphere and overall impression was it was tired and unfriendly.

Second visit for me, I went there first time in Oct 2013 with a friend, said I would go back and I did. Excellent beers, Today I started with a XT3 Indian Pale Ale that was just about finished, I then had a pint of Old Forge Bitter from Half Moon Brewery, and then had another of the same to... More

Popped in for a pint guide there by my CAMRA phone app. Missed it first time but spotted the basement location eventually. Cosy little pub - almost like being in someone's front room. Great beer well kept.
